Rhonda, careful don't go around telling peeps you're retaining so much water because that means that you're trying to be an elite human sponge

Isn't that the case. My trick now is to explain why once and shut up because it takes a few days for reason to sink in. Once it gets in, they will start singing your tune.Originally posted by Rhonda:Recently, was part of a discussion group thingy with upper nursing management.
I raised up issues that concerned me, and man, the replies they gave just showed you that they couldn't, for the life of them, think linear!
They gave 'answers' that didn't actually address my concerns, and they used distraction tactics to draw attention away from my actual questions, which they had no reasonable solutions to (because they weren't prepared to address the REAL issues).
I even told a really intelligent colleague about it, and we laughed out heads off!
Sadly, the rest just couldn't SEE what was happening.

Gee, I was involved as some kinda student leader in poly too, when I was attending my nursing dip! Man, you totally understand what I went through too!Originally posted by Fatum:well ... they are well versed at that ... it's part of the Singapore Mandarin's culture ......
I was active in such "feedback sessions" back in poly cos i was a "student leader" .... they always ask me to attend this and that ....
but i got jaded after a while from the replies that i got .... some of the MPs can be almost rude when you say something they didn't quite like to hear .... (that chap has since upgraded to Minister now ...) ..... so I've shut up ..
I read newspaper , by the time it's my turn to order, all the liaos boh liaoOriginally posted by elindra:Bring some mags to see lor.
Where exactly is this place?? Is it at the HDB flat opposite the Amway place in Bt Merah??Originally posted by The man who was death:I read newspaper , by the time it's my turn to order, all the liaos boh liao
Ahh...same culture in my office. If you speak up for things that aren't going right, you are labelled as trouble-maker and/or difficult employee by none other than HR dept which will cost you in the perf appraisal. So it does encourage the boh chap mentality. It's a symptom of lack of substance among the ppl who should actually know what they are doing.Originally posted by Fatum:well ... they are well versed at that ... it's part of the Singapore Mandarin's culture ......

You can be seen but just don't be heard.
Just wait till you enter nursing, Wanda... they have totally redefined my idea of what's 'reasonable treatment' and what's not! And, I kid you not!!Originally posted by Wanda:Ahh...same culture in my office. Rhonda, to keep u updated...i just might have to give up the idea...coz if at the end of all the sacrifices that I am prepared to make (in all aspects - family lifestyle, time, health, monetary, etc.) and still I cannot take leave properly to indulge in my love of travelling, then I would have nothing much to look forward to in my life.Originally posted by Rhonda:Just wait till you enter nursing, Wanda... they have totally redefined my idea of what's 'reasonable treatment' and what's not!
