Recently, was part of a discussion group thingy with upper nursing management.
I raised up issues that concerned me, and man, the replies they gave just showed you that they couldn't, for the life of them, think linear!
They gave 'answers' that didn't actually address my concerns, and they used distraction tactics to draw attention away from my actual questions, which they had no reasonable solutions to (because they weren't prepared to address the REAL issues).
I even told a really intelligent colleague about it, and we laughed out heads off!
Sadly, the rest just couldn't SEE what was happening.

I was active in such "feedback sessions" back in poly cos i was a "student leader" .... they always ask me to attend this and that ....
but i got jaded after a while from the replies that i got .... some of the MPs can be almost rude when you say something they didn't quite like to hear .... (that chap has since upgraded to Minister now ...) ..... so I've shut up .. -

I've also learnt to shut up and conserve energy because all they want is a nice 'glossy' session so they can boast about having good 'communication' with the students. Ahh...same culture in my office. If you speak up for things that aren't going right, you are labelled as trouble-maker and/or difficult employee by none other than HR dept which will cost you in the perf appraisal. OK, share one point with you guys to expose how idiotic the whole situation can get...
One ward is notorious for being super busy cause of the bad staff : patient ratio. Its staff never get to go for breaks because of the high activity level there.
So, I raised up the issue of improving the working conditions for our nurses there, cause no one should work in such a condition.
One of the nurses was from that ward. She agrees. But then, maybe she didn't dare to be honest, she quickly added, 'It's ok lah... we're used to not having our breaks and not eating our meals already'.
And the management quickly smiled and said, 'See... you learn to cope!' and, that was it!
So, me not happy about the way it was handled, spoke up again, 'Just because they have learnt to adapt to not having any breaks does not mean it's RIGHT!'
There was a pause, then very quickly, they moved on to the next topic!
