News on 5 just showed short clips of 'Memoirs of a Geisha' and excerpts of an interview done with Zhang Ziyi.
She just said that she had to undergo six months of intensive training to prepare for the movie!!
She even had to learn how to dance in those ridiculous platform shoes and when she was first shown the shoes, she thought they were handbags!

As far as I can remember.. frm the book, the geisha is paid around 70,000 yen and upward to be the gentleman's kept woman.. even more if she was a virgin. The guy in exchange buys her gifts and comes to her for comfort..
Oh yeah, I dont really recall any sexual parts in such lucid detail -

I was just thinking, it's Japan, they can put on such thick make-up and get away with lovely, unblemished skin.
Imagine, in Singapore, if they were to walk around in our heat and humidity, whoa... all the blackheads and whiteheads and pimple breakouts! Not to mention, the freckles! -
