Once we were talking to this Malaysian Transporter who was smuggling poultry into Malaysia from Singapore due to the shortage during the first bird flu scare.
He was caught with the frozen chicken at the customs. Officer wanted to confiscate the goods and fine him. He tried bribing and it didn't work, so he lodge a complaint to that officer's boss.
The boss gave the officer a dressing down on why is he being stupid and not accepting the bribe

Actually they have this permit is understood.. Here the road tax is so ex that MY vehciles can't afford
Anyway a public bus road tax can just be S$10 in MY, while here is S$1100...

What if the victim carrying it was an auntie who is ignorant about such things but is kind-hearted and just wanted to help (altho' misguided) to carry it? Would this be a mitigating factor? Imagine one whole stretch of single lane of trunk road, every bloody single car going at over 100km/h
You go slower than that, you'll get knocked by other speeding vehicles
So the Malaysian police set up roadblock, and stopped my dad's car, of all speeding cars, asked him to go the back of the van to show they had 'proof' of him going over speed limit, and blatantly told him RM 400 would settle the issue

Oh, another tactic they like to use - they stop your car and say you were caught speeding several kilometres earlier, and so they have to give u a ticket. Our friends (in 2 cars) who are malaysians argued with them on how they knew, where were we caught, at what speed, etc. and refuse to pay. got someone to help her carry them.. i think the person got scared and left it in front of the immigration counter...
it was reported by the officer and the police treated it as "suspicious" which meant "suspected explosive device"
the auntie kena questioned by the police for about 2 hours.. the tin got irradiated by a whole lot of machines, and after all that, she was warned, released.. and worse of all, her bus left her...
