I like the general more than the slave - yalah slave handsome lah but.. there's something so insanely amoral about the General leh - he doesn't let unimportant triffles like THE TRUTH get into the way of what he wants. Hehee..

Oh yes! Every single scene is so breathtakingly beautiful, isn't it? I found the opening scene where the girl meets the goddess astounding! The part where she was shot from underwater, as she jumped onto another log... the part where the goddess appears and pushes the bun out of the water... the part where her yards of cloth and hair seem to be afloat in water even when she's out of water! And yes, that halo!Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:Haha okay i just watched it last night too...
Hmm as mentioned, cinematographically it is breath taking. I like especially the scenes where the little girl meets the goddess the first time. Every scene has a lot of thought and design put into it, and looks like they are all meant to be eventually a still poster, the colours, the lines, fabulous.
Storyline wise... still acceptable ba. I think if the whole story is condensed into a fantasy story, it has a very 'neil gaiman' tone to it - whimsical, intense and at the same time, light hearted.
Script wise... damn sucks lah. Very poseur script, where every character tries very hard to sound cheem and 'artistic' but comes across like they are speaking bad chinese. Actually all of them have strange accent.
Think Cecilia cheung lost a bit of weight for this movie. He whole face looks thin. usually I feel she is slim but her face a bit round. But I think she carried off the role pretty well. I like the goddess though (is it her too?) the way the goddess hair floats above her with that rotating halo - brand new must-have hair accesory!
Mmm.. very funny.. the audience kept laughing at parts of the movie. Err inappropriate parts.
