I've been calling my agent to speed things up.Originally posted by Kan_i:Sounds like your need to head over here to Australia - even Melbourne lol- sooner than later.
Well, I believe you still have to be cautious being in Australia aft the recent racist attacks.. I have a very bad feeling that more tensions are on the wayOriginally posted by Rhonda:I've been calling my agent to speed things up.
Thing is, the folks there are on vacation and by the time the interview panel returns to work, it'll be mid to late Jan.
But it's ok... I tell myself, it shall all be in God's good timing.
BTW, last night, at a feast SL and I attended, I found out from her relatives that the hospital I'm aiming for is a Catholic hospital and there are nuns walking about, administering to the patients' spiritual needs.

Those pink ones? Simple, add food colour dye powder
The traditional ones are plain balls with nothing inside, and they are white or pink in a lt, caramel-coloured 'soup' made by boiling pandan leaves, brown sugar, and slices of ginger.Originally posted by Kan_i:OK i want to know what are these balls? can someone link it?
From what i can determine is it the white soft rice balls with suger cane or brown sugar inside....?

Coz by seeing someone fall, your work performance start to look betterOriginally posted by av98m:YES! Eating tang yuen tonight! Yum!
Sorry to hear about your workplace woes Rhonda. Why people insist on making lives miserable for each other at the workplace instead of helping/supporting is really beyond my understanding.
I'm wondering if the recent racial problems in Sydney are affecting my application. All of a sudden, they're demanding silly things before they'll grant me my nursing licence! Things that they've never needed before!Originally posted by sbst275:Well, I believe you still have to be cautious being in Australia aft the recent racist attacks.. i can never look at a nurse again and thinkOriginally posted by Rhonda:
I've been pretty miserable since they posted me to my new workplace a few months back!
I've asked for a transfer back to my old ward, but I've been flatly refused.
This rotation thing is causing tremendous unhappiness amongst us. Of course, on paper, it sounds good - job rotation, exposure to different areas, skills picked up, yada-yada...
BUT, they've forgotten the human factors like our individual career plans, our interest areas, and most importantly, our friends.
When you've worked in an area long enough, people start to accept you, you forge friendships, you know the system well. I miss my old colleagues.
Most importantly, I'm at the stage where I'm waiting to make my exit. I DO NOT relish new challenges now. I did try to be positive and tell myself that it's a learning experience, and I did learn quite a few things here, but the people here are mostly pretty nasty and sarcastic and I don't fit in. I do have a few new friends - and one of them almost made me cry when she said that she wanted to yell at the others to ''SHUT UP!! Leave her alone!!'' when she overheard them b!tching about me. So touched that she stood up for me! I told her not to though, cause I'm strong enough to take the wolves coming after me, but I don't want her to be chased down by the same wolves because of me.
I really really almost cried when she said, ''Y'know, I think you're very brave and I admire your courage for standing up to them and going into their midst to work with them despite seeing how nasty they are to you, and how they've ganged up against you.''
Nursing here is like that. Each time you enter a new work area, they'll tekan you and sabo you, throwing insults endlessly at you and all that, until they're convinced you can work and / or they've grown to accept you over time.
Nasty. We weren't ever so brutal to newcomers in my old corporate jobs. In fact, we welcomed newcomers and only kept our distance AFTER some misdeed was committed... welcomed unless proven suspicious / unworthy... not the other way round - attacked unless proven worthy.
Sorry I haven't been online much lately... been trying to seek that little sliver of sunshine slicing through the dark clouds.

Those that you're talking about, with peanut / coconut / sesame / tao sah fillings inside, they're called Ah Ball-ing and they come in a sugar syrup base.

Perhaps, but I've always felt that if someone in a particular team or section falls, it also reflects on the team as a whole. But I guess not everyone thinks this way. Hmmm....I guess thats ONE good lesson I learnt from my NS experience.Originally posted by elindra:Coz by seeing someone fall, your work performance start to look better

Before I worked with them, Kan-i, I used to think that nurses are sweet-natured, caring people.Originally posted by Kan_i:i can never look at a nurse again and think
"wow she must be such a nice caring person to work in such a job"
i think u have single handedly destroyed the (what i now know to be) "false" perception of nurses.
More seriously seems like SG nurses are horrible click groups. My experience with people i know as nurses (which is very little) here is that Doctors are usually the bastards.
Well, u can also say that Rhonda has single-handedly 'destroyed' my aspirations to make a mid-career switch to nursing ....or 'rescued' me from the misery.Originally posted by Kan_i:i can never look at a nurse again and think

Then, when I stepped into their midst, I saw how they tried to tear me to shreds. I was !!
Usually, they'll stop bullying you when a new batch of nurses join us. Then, they'll turn their attention to these newbies and those who kena bullied will 'graduate' into their fold.
That's why in my previous ward, whenever I saw a newbie being bullied or insulted by the seniors, I'd speak up for the juniors. Sometimes, the discussions got pretty heated because the seniors hate to be told off but I'm quite a fighting cock at my previous workplace!
I hate to see newbies being ganged-up against for no good reason!
