There's apparently a very interesting documentary entitled as above, produced by PBS in 2002. I don't remember it being broadcast here though.

Here's an interesting short article I chanced across :
''Did you know that the brain's ability to reason isn't fully formed until the late teens? Or that the brain keeps churning out fresh neurons - tiny conveyer belts that store knowledge and information - until old age? In the past decade, our understanding of the human brain has increased exponentially. ''We've learnt so much more in the past ten years than we learned in the preceding one hundred.'' says the filmaker, David Grubin.

Answers to the Brain Tease!

(a) A baby's brain contains about twice as many connections linking brain cells as an adult brain. By the age of 12, that number has been pared down by about 50%, which is all any of us needs.

(d) A thousand trillion!!
About half of these get sculpted away because the infant's experience doesn't require them to be used. In their place, other connective pathways grow stronger and more complex.

(a) Tests on sleeping subjects demonstrate that the brain actually differentiates between ''pure'' sounds such as bells, and language.

I totally do not watch Ch 8 and I do not like Ch 5 dramas in general. However, to be fair, Ch 5 does produce good current affairs programs. I find Tab TV pretty interesting. Over on Ch 8, I used to watch Jiao1 Dian3 San1 Shi2 Fen1 a few years back. It was a current affairs program that summarizes interesting clips from all over the world. Very informative and an eye-opener at times.
But, don't ask me to watch dramas on Ch 5 and 8! -
I believe I read somewhere when I was a teen, that we're only harnessing 20% of our brain capacity.
