not true. I think people who have treasure family ties will enjoy CNY. CNY is the time where you can get to catch up with all cousin and to meet distant relatives. i love to welcome CNY, esp. buying deco, shopping, spring cleaning (a motivaition to start fresh again), deco hse, making CNY goodies, roam ard in CHinatown, lo hei & etc.
but i dislike visiting sessions....
i know of a family asking for 15 red pkts for her grandchildren. -

It's something that happens throughout the year.
As for distant relatives, there really isn't any point (been cutting down through the years) as it's always a hi-bye affair and kinda hypocritical I think.
As for Christmas, it is a yearly affair for both family and friends. No I wouldn't say we spent that much
