As for distant relatives, there really isn't any point (been cutting down through the years) as it's always a hi-bye affair and kinda hypocritical I think.
As for Christmas, it is a yearly affair for both family and friends. No I wouldn't say we spent that much

yeah, i look forward every year for CNY. i'm enjoy meeting up wif relatives cos it is actually one time in a year, love to collect ang pow too!

"So old already? when are you going to settle down?"

alot of Q&A. i believe none of you will like it, but isn't that gathering wif relatives is all about? just treat it as show of concerns. this is the day where chinese family reunion is all about.
i prefer cny more than xmas day. since i am not a christian anyway and what for i bother about jesus's birth? -

For me, I find it EXTREMELY INTRUSIVE and the questions put to me goes being concern and goes on to be what I term 'kaypohness'
This is especially so since my hubby, than bf is not chinese.
You can't imagine how stupid some questions are and how intrusive some are to the extent of wanted to INTRODUCE Chinese guys to me. WTF.
Now the next 'diplomatic' question I think I'll hear alot is "I wonder how your kids will look like" -

my auntie (in her late 70) was worse than that, she went to mock at my cousin-in-law, "So many years married to Ah Cai (my cousin), u cant even lay an egg." of course, everyone in the house, even the cousins laugh at the hardcore joke.
old pple are mean, but they mean well. it's not that couples nowaday want to give birth, but bringing up a child is not affortable these days. -

Reunion Dinner is fun but the Visiting can quite tiring and dumb. You visit you relatives at their house then the same relatives visit you at your house in return.

Relatives tend to ask question which are more sensitve and personal because they are like your family, they have seen you growing up from a toddle to an adult. -

And what pissed me off was that they came on my parents for not stopping me from going out with a guy from another race.
It got so bad that I made it clear to them in a polite manner that if they don't shut-up and keep their comments to themselves, don't blame me for turning nasty.
Btw, my folks are not old-fashioned. They're just plain racist and still suffering from "Whites are supreme" mentality. (They never harp on those who marry ang mos) -
