There is the shark attack that happened just this couple of days
I remember sitting at a breakwater and seeing the shadow of this 2 m long shark just a few metres away from boardsurfers
Lots of hammerheads in the rivers even
Isn't it amazing that so much pleasure can be derived from the simple things in life, like settling into a comfy chair next to a bay window with a good book? Just watching life go by outside the window can be a relaxing experience. Once you've settled into your new home in Australia, you'll be able to do that again.Originally posted by Rhonda:I used to have a close friend over to my place and we'd drag our high chairs over to the kitchen window, open it wide, and sit there with our drink of choice, yakking away or just enjoying each other's company in peaceful silence.
When I had my short training stint in the US, everyday after work, I'd sit in the window seat in my bedroom, looking at the neighbours who walk by the house, straining to hear the conversations of neighbours (yeah, me super kaypoh! ) and peeking at the squirrels and birds in the branches of the trees just outside my huge window.
Sometimes, I'd sit there as I yakked on the phone with my American friends and my then boyfriend. Other times, I'd sit there, totally engrossed in a good book / mag. I've also sat there and stuffed my face silly with my favourite Krispy Kreme doughnuts that are simply out-of-this-world, as well as sat there with this huuuuuge monstrous serving of rice with stir-fried prawns and broccoli that I purchased for the first time at the Chinese cook-house in the Charles Street and wondering how in the world can someone finish that portion in one sitting!
I loved that window seat! Hope that my own home will have one!
That's exactly why the last time someone tried to jio me for a scuba diving holiday at the great barrier reef, I refused on the grounds that I am scared to death of big sharks. There's over a hundred species of sharks in existence, mostly harmless, but no way am I taking my chances at a place where the great white is known to exist!Originally posted by Rhonda:Yeah!! I've read articles of people who were attacked by sharks and survived with really bad injuries. A few of them even lost a limb ...or two... or three!

Abstinence is a form of penance, to build up one's self-control. It's not serious to forget to observe it once in a while though.Originally posted by shinta:why can't u guys eat meat?

All of us are supposed to practise it...but there's a small number who aren't so pious and don't observe it.Originally posted by shinta:oh! now i get it
is it something all catholics do? or just some do it?
