Kids usually want to 'copy' their parents and act like adults. So if they see their parents eating / drinking something, they'll want to try too! So endearing!Originally posted by Fatum:that's a bit extreme lah ....
most of the CBCs I meet goes through a period of identity crisis before re-discovering their roots in adulthood .... so by the time they are parents themselves, you see them teaching their kids how to use chopsticks again ...
Well the 2 guys in question are in their late 20s. Maybe after a few years...Originally posted by Fatum:that's a bit extreme lah ....

Erm... that's quite some claim you're making there, Fatum!
Well, despite my misadventures with chinese language in school, at the end of the day I'm very glad I can at least speak and read chinese (writing is a problem now due to years of inactivity). Adn ironically, because of my reading habits, I now know more traditional chinese characters than the simplified version we were taught!Originally posted by Rhonda:I used to do my chinese homework crying all the time. Mom and dad were schooled in Malay and English and they didn't know how to help me with my Chinese homework. I remember one day, I was crying away when doing my chinese homework and mom was mumbling, ''Cham!! Nobody can teach you and help you! Tomorrow you kena pinched again!'' Then, I cried louder!

Fatum, hey, we're on to an interesting topic of discussion here! Why don't you start a thread on this?Originally posted by Fatum:just wondering ... how much written mandarin do you guys still retain inside the grey processor ?...
Chinese compo should really need dictionary... Because there are many chinese words that look similar but diff stroke mean diff meaning... Like that jiang (Syrup) word..Originally posted by Rhonda:Not enough to write a short sentence without resorting to the dictionary.

You can piece together a picture from all my previous posts mah.Originally posted by Rhonda:Yo, av98m! Can tell us a bit more about yourself? Kinda curious!
Nice intro!! You sound like a very interesting chap!Originally posted by av98m:OK lah, here is a quick summary:
av98m is a 30yr old male, single who has been fighting a battle against lousy eyesight and a hairline that is beating a hasty retreat from his forehead. To say nothing of his waistline. He watches way too much TV (mostly Starworld and AXN) and enjoys shows like CSI, The West Wing, House, Desperate Housewives etc. His favourite sitcoms will be Seinfield and Frasier. av98m also eats too much and sleeps too little.
If av98m were to ever become ruler of the world, he has a long list of people and places he would like to exterminate.
av98m likes to get away from crowds, and is in fact a lot more animated and talkative when in small groups. he clams up in big gatherings.
av98m loves to read. He is a literary whore who will read just about anything. Hence he is a walking encyclopedia of useless facts.
av98m is a little cynical, his world view is pretty much "life sucks and then you die". However, he does make an effort to enjoy life, and finds the greatesy joy in the simpler pleasures of life.
av98m likes to think of ways to torture and kill people he does not like. he thinks that he might make an excellent serial killer. or an ISD interrogater.
.....to be continued(when I feel like it)

I cannot reveal my occupation for 2 reasons:
1. Its a lowly sai kang type of position anyway
2. Just in case there are colleagues who read this place and realise just how often I come here! Thats like my worst nightmare!
Ahh! touche!Originally posted by Rhonda:
And, nobody can lay claim to having SAI kang in front of a nurse cause, well, our job is literally... shit-ty!!
No, mah! It IS the literal truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the stinky truth!!Originally posted by av98m:Ahh! touche!
