(Really hor, not making it up. Got actual references)
My dear pinkybear, if you were to become a fruit picker.. you will need to change to browny bear. I am sure you remember the intensity of the suns here. All that work at keeping yourself ever yougthful will be thwon out of the door. Maybe thats why your SO is so against fruit picking lolOriginally posted by elindra:
Haha that is what I told SO
You support me and I'll relax and enjoy nature as a fruitpicker
I got a knock on my head for saying that
wahhh why did you have to destroy that 1 simple fantasy that i was still holding onto?Originally posted by Rhonda:Very well said! And yes, nurses need to make a living too! We're not saints.
Oh i dont think its cultural thing when it comes to friendship. Ask yourself how many new friends have you got that you consider "true friends". One that you trust and will tell your secrets. Me thinks its just age and the friends you have had as chilhood or during schooldays will tend to be your close friends.Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:Negatives include:
- Cost of living is more expensive than in Singapore.
- We find it hard to be good friends with the Aussies (could be cultural barriers? Can mix well with them lah, but just cannot be goody-goody, buddy pals like we had in Sg)
- Miss our family & friends!
Errm can't think of any more reasons, if/when I do, I'll add them in!
Agree with u there.. it may be an age thing too, the older one gets, the harder it gets to find 'true' friends. But to a certain extent (for some of my friends & for myself, anyway) we find the cultural barrier gets in the way)Originally posted by Kan_i:Oh i dont think its cultural thing when it comes to friendship. Also you need to work hard at making new friends. Hard when you are with SO of any type or have children.
And if you fear going to places such as "cabramatta" well what can i say hahahah

Hahaha i tried cherry picking recently on my trip to Batlow (2 hrs from Canberra) and after like 30mins, it become boring very quickly. Needless to say wifey dear wanted to get out of the sun lol.
LOL thats usually expected from people in your neck of the woods. Thansk to the media Cabramatta has had a bad rep that will take a long time to clear. There is little trouble and most trouble before were gang related... so if you werent part of the trouble ppl left u alone. Also if u were anglo lol u get offered "ahem" stuff to buy hahahhaOriginally posted by SydneyLibrarian:Agree with u there.. it may be an age thing too, the older one gets, the harder it gets to find 'true' friends. Cabramatta? Willing to go just to chk the place out.. but just a bit cautious becos of what ppl have been saying to us over the past 2 yrs we've been here. That's why we haven't been going.
That used to happen to me as well. Until one day I discovered SPF100 sun block!! Its a japanese brand available at isetan or watson's.Originally posted by elindra:

Btw, I don't turn brown. I turn lobster red and burn real bad
SPF100Originally posted by av98m:That used to happen to me as well. Until one day I discovered SPF100 sun block!! Its a japanese brand available at isetan or watson's.
Its a white liquid. Actually less sticky and yucky than the other stuff I tried. It comes in a small orange bottle and a little goes a long way (though I stock up in case they stop bringing it in!)Originally posted by elindra:SPF100
Erhmm does it stink and is it all sticky and yucky?
Post a pic. I need to buy oneOriginally posted by av98m:Its a white liquid. Actually less sticky and yucky than the other stuff I tried. It comes in a small orange bottle and a little goes a long way (though I stock up in case they stop bringing it in!)
I got no digicam! Nevermind, can pass you one from my personal stash.Originally posted by elindra:Post a pic. I need to buy one
Not being narrow minded, but just stating the facts. City are congested fast pace, apartment are small, things are expensive, air are polluted, and it is noisy, full of tourists etc. Geograhically Oz is also very far from the "world", and traveling might be a hassle.Originally posted by Rhonda:That's so narrow-minded... just like proclaiming that ALL cities are the same. For someone who profess to be well-travelled, that's some far-fetched claim you're making.
Ahh...I think you're right. Cannot remember the brand liao because its been a while since I went to a nice beach resort . For myself I don't care will apply like siao, so I do look a wee bit whitish. Perhaps a more moderate application will ensure better looking results.Originally posted by choco B:I believe the brand is Sunplay
Not bad at all. I like these japanese sunblocks that are milky white liquids. Easy to apply , light to wear and no streaking.
*edit - oops actually i'm not sure if the sunplay spf100 is that "invisible" on skin. Higher spf usually are thicker and may leave a white cast. Perhaps av98m can give us a better idea of its performance.
AV is so sweetOriginally posted by av98m:I got no digicam! Nevermind, can pass you one from my personal stash.
I always feel motivated to help fellow sufferers of the red lobster syndrome you see. Finding that sunblock changed my life for the better! Sunburns are bad.Originally posted by elindra:AV is so sweet
Nevermind la I buy one from you
