Horror Movies!

Do you watch them? Do you like them? Which ones do you prefer - the Japanese ones, the Korean ones, the Thai ones, or the Hollywood ones?
I just purchased a few VCD's and I plan on keeping the lights turned off as I watch them late at night!

i cant watch horror flicks.. i'll end up scolding the characters on how dumb they are..

Hey, did any of you watch that Korean horror flick, "Cello"? Is it scary?
And also, another Korean horror movie entitled "The Wig"... what do you think of it?
Pls recommend good movies in this genre here!

I love horror movies... but so little to choose from here... I like to see them on big screens as they do nothing for me on small screens anymore.

big screens with frens la.. alone abit bo liao, scare ownself alone for nothing.
but i doing project now, need to listen to silent hill soundtracks over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.. abit creepy after dat.

I remember the time when I watched the Thai movie "Nang Nak" with a bunch of friends ....
somehow it ended up being so funny to us ... we were laughing so hard ... that the rest of the cinema got infected as well and started laughing along with us ! ...

I freak myself out with my imagination more than the movie itself. Movies that I cannot connect with doesn't scare me.
You know way out stuff like The Ring with the ghost crawling out of the TV set.
However movies like Shutter and The Eye freaked the hell out of me. Up till now I have to bring myself to watch The Maid. (Rhonda it's all your fault. You're supposed to watch it with me
and Chris refuses to watch any movie of 'Horror' genre with me) -

I just watched Maributo early this morning when it was still dark, hoping to creep myself out!
But, it turned out to be a lame lame lame show! pthpthpth!! Pui! Pui!!
Only the first 15 mins was suspenseful... the rest of the movie was not scary at all!!!
I want my money back!! -

I always say, when you enter the cinema to watch a movie, you've got to pretend you're stepping into another world and you have to leave some part of your brain behind for some genres!
Otherwise, if you really want hard facts and all that, go watch a documentary!
It's hard to make a movie that's scary anymore... audiences have seen almost everything graphic and gruesome and we've been desensitised now! Used to be, chopped up body parts were frightening to watch but nowadays, who flinches anymore? -
I still prefer the old horror movies, eg. The Exorcist, Omen, Evil Dead, etc.
And not forgetting the old HK horror movies, Gui La Jiao, Men Gui Da Xia, etc... -

I guess in that case, you guys would classify "Creep" as a gorey movie instead of a horror movie too, since it's kinda like a slasher hit but with a lot more gore!
It scared the hell outta me! I went to watch it alone in an almost empty cinema and some parts had me sitting there, all tensed up with clenched fists... sooooo scary!!
And, I must go and catch "Saw" and "Saw 2"... heard so many of you talking about it! -

Reminds me of the time when I got traumatised playing this horror game on the 286 - one of the first PC games I played! It was late at night, the lights were off, my headphones were on... and I was exploring a haunted house on screen when suddenly, outta nowhere, a zombie jumped out and scratched me to death!!!
I jumped outta my seat, my heart thumping madly!!! The sound effect was scary!! I was unprepared for how real it all looked, it looked like it was struggling to jump out of the monitor and scared the hell outta me!
I didn't know my brother was watching from behind and he laughed and laughed when he saw my reaction! -

To watch a horror, you have to be timid

Everytime a horror movie's out and I watch the trailers, I get sooo excited but at the same time, apprehensive that it might be a disappointment.
I wanted to watch The Descent at the cinema cause the trailers were exciting... but then, my indecision over whether it would actually turn out to be scary or not and thus whether it would be worth my while or not dragged on so long that the show ended before I've made my final decision... which was, no decision!
