yes i do agree with you there. But you know theres always exploitation when money is at hand.Originally posted by the Bear:not in a bad mood...
just that i hate to see commercialism, turn into a mad grab for money, which turns a blind eye to atrocities, which ends up helping the perpetrators of atrocities... in order to grab more money...
it happened with diamonds...
and it's happening now with the GOP in the US with oil..

That's true. Things are sold at inflated prices too! And there's nothing romantic about queuing up and getting all hot and bothered, waiting for stuff. And, I hate crowds!Originally posted by elindra:Come to think of it, I've never really celebrated Valentine's Day as I hate the crowd and commercialism of it all.....it's really not romantic on V'day with the crowd every where really
hmmm i must be missing something. Naturally i assumed Valentines day was supposed to spent alone?Originally posted by elindra:Come to think of it, I've never really celebrated Valentine's Day as I hate the crowd and commercialism of it all.....it's really not romantic on V'day with the crowd every where really
Chee Chong Fun from a hotel? I guess it's the company that counts.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:I find valentines' day very intimidating leh
I like pink, mind you
but I believe there is a psychological study somewhere that says something about the debilitating effect of overload of pink
its just so DEMANDING on everyone to LOVE to be AFFECTIONATE to SHOW to EXPRESS to POUR OUT ... feel a little bit assaulted by it
BUT I think it is a good day for couples who are too shy to be demonstrative to find an 'excuse' to be sweet to each other at least for that 1 day a year. I knew a young couple working in factories, girl was very sweet, hubby err I find rather inconsiderate generally. But every year she will look forward to Valentine's Day cos he will take her to a nice place to share an expensive plate of a little something. I still remember how she gushed about her 'chee cheong fun' at some hotel or another and I feel, oh well.. it is good that there is a day like this, that can make her happy.
Yeah I remember (it was like abt 10 years ago la) when she told us, she was so happy and we were like HOW COME you didnt order something else?! Then she said it was too expensive. AND they shared the plate of chee cheong fan. The girl's really very sweet, to save money they will share 1 packet of mixed vege rice for dinner.. and she will eat like 1/3 or 1/4 and leave everything else to him.. and he will wolf it down never asking her if she would like more or not.Originally posted by elindra:Chee Chong Fun from a hotel? I think it's pretty typical of guys when it comes to food. Like my SO, he tends to start eating from my plate after he finishes his food if he likes it.
