the threadstarter main concern is about parent's mindsets and they being naive about the truths and facts..Originally posted by silv3rgal:Poly vs JC war going to start again?
And i got a feeling that it'll lead to flame wars again.... hope it's not gonna happen again.Originally posted by stellazio:the threadstarter main concern is about parent's mindsets and they being naive about the truths and facts..
yes i wouldn't mind letting those RJC,HCI etc students have their glory as being the cream of the crops..Originally posted by vIn.Warrior:no matter what, pple are still looking highly at JC students.
Not true... poly or jc, it's just a phase of life... when u start working, they'll look at ur performance and highest qualifications, who cares if u're from poly or jc?Originally posted by vIn.Warrior:no matter what, pple are still looking highly at JC students.
The thing now comes, is all at HCI doing well?Originally posted by stellazio:yes i wouldn't mind letting those RJC,HCI etc students have their glory as being the cream of the crops..
but why do i have to stand in awe of those ****ing lousy JCs that i shunned..
the problem here is that once people hear the word JC and they think its good without even probing more..
it's true tt in working world, a JC student might lose out by a poly student. however when the students are still studying, outsiders judge them by their sch.Originally posted by silv3rgal:Not true... poly or jc, it's just a phase of life... when u start working, they'll look at ur performance and highest qualifications, who cares if u're from poly or jc?
at least they were either very hardworking or quite smart when they did their Os.Originally posted by sbst275:The thing now comes, is all at HCI doing well?
Obviously, A levels can't be compared to a poly dip, A level's only a stepping stone to university.Originally posted by vIn.Warrior:it's true tt in working world, a JC student might lose out by a poly student. however when the students are still studying, outsiders judge them by their sch.
That's so subjective! Whether one uses the 'A' levels or the Poly Dip to enter a Degree program, it's not a determinant of the outcome.Originally posted by stellazio:i say JC students are not as well equipped as the poly grads when they enter uni..
Nope! Here in Club 30, we do not encourage wars... we try our best to keep discussions going and to agree to disagree.Originally posted by silv3rgal:Poly vs JC war going to start again?
I'm quite surprised too... because I'd think that with all the publicity about this issue in the newspapers and in the News on TV, the parents would realise by now that more people are choosing the Poly's over the JC's. The demand is clearly for Poly's so why is there still an apparent stigma?Originally posted by sbst275:I hope this would not happen here
But I just wanna know why the folks are still having such old thinkings?

Hmm... could it be that in the past, it used to be much easier to enter the Poly than the JC? And they haven't updated their knowledge and perceptions so they continue to think that way?
4) JC students are more prepared into Uni education (Not true says Uni prof in the ST interview)I don't agree with this. Even if they performed average for A Levels, they still can get into university. Diploma holders performed average you see where they go. That will be in terms of results.
I don't think so. My parents mindset changed le leh. So do my other relatives.Originally posted by sbst275:I hope this would not happen here
