good point. im also rather curious about how the countries are judgedOriginally posted by Meia Gisborn:It is rather senseless posting a list of the 20 "greatest" cities without indicating the criteria for their being chosen as such.
What benchmarks are being used? Cost of living? Per capita GNP? Crime rate? Average height of the populace?

Rome, Amsterdam, Paris and Barca would be wonderful places for me and hon to meet up. Where did you find this list, Bear?

thanks, but they're not mine tho. can be found online. a quick search of "bora bora" leaves one with no doubt about how beautiful and alluring a place it is. I place it 1st, followed by the French Riveria on the Côte d'Azur.Originally posted by coffeeortea:beautiful... nice pics heng..

Again, based on what criteria?Originally posted by the Bear:and as how the places are judged, a bunch of travel writers got together and argued it out

Being travel writers, I'm guessing they judged the cities' "greatness" on factors that tourists would find attractive and desirable, in which case it might be worth remembering the old adage, "It's a nice place to visit, but you wouldn't necessarily want to live there."
You should, since you initiated this thread!Originally posted by the Bear:well, who knows?
just enjoy the ride

Never been anything but!Originally posted by the Bear:ahhh... you're more singaporean than you think
You would have done well to have metioned that right from the start. It is unfortunate that you missed the whole show, as I am still interested in knowing what exactly makes the cities in the list "great." Who knows? If the reasons are convincing enough, I might want to visit one or more of them in the future.Originally posted by the Bear:ahhh... you're more singaporean than you think
instead of enjoying the ride and looking at it as an adventure, you try to analyse it to heck
it was a show which i missed the beginning of last week.. but noted down their recommendations...
sort of like Lisbon, they have a huge aquarium in the city which has mola-mola in it...
and new york, there are things in the city like Central Park.. which is amazing
stuff like that.. there is no need for analysing it all
sometimes, there is no why...
