One of my kids is really cute. I take her everywhere and all my colleagues gush over her, want to carry her. She has a bit of behavioural issues though.... and.. Hmm.. sometimes I know discipline her less strictly than I should cos... well.. she's cute....
(sigh. since people seem distracted by this part of it, let me edit it)
whenever I see people gushing over cute kids, treating them specially cos well, they are cute. PUnishing them less, praising them more... and I wonder, what's going to happen when they grow up... not cute enough. Not pretty enough. Not popular enough. One of my friend has a daughter who is really very pretty. She told ALL of us to NEVER compliment her on her looks. She said its enough. (her problem is boys in her primary 1 class giving her daughter money during recess. Her daughter is 7).
Oh Well. My little kid been putting her feet up at the desk during class. Repeated reminders all day but she isnt stopping. It's a heartache to punish her today, and I guess I am as susceptible to cuteness as everyone else. But guess bobian. need to try and be stricter. -

Well you can't stop others from treating her nicely if shes cute right? Its just like how chio bus get lots of attention, priviledges, admirers etc.. People will always praise, compliment and love things they find appealing to the eye.. but nothing is permanent -
no i can't of course... and it is a fact of life that better looking people get treated better. But I am just saying, a lot of kids I know grow up having issues cos people around constantly gush about them when they are young. But they suddenly realise they are not the centre of attention when they grow up. Those who grow up with less attention actually can handle adolescence better too. This is what I observe from working with kids and teenagers.

it was hilarious that a lot of pretty ladies got "transferred" to the head office when there was a pervo of a dude in senior management once...
and notice it's easier for the endangered species activists to get support for cute pandas than it is for them to get support for scary sharks

I worked with another girl too.. very sweet 'lin dai yu' type... her mom is always fussing over how fragile she is.. and gushing say she is very sweet, very pretty. Her mum spends a lot of time giving her complicated hair, and painting her nails, and expensive hair accessories....
And it is creepy how sometimes instead of playing with friends, she will just SIT AND STARE at her own reflection in the mirror, play with her hair, practise her smiles. AND this girl is 8.

Actually most if not all kids or small girls in particular are kinda cute when they are young... and the ones that have the potential to become beauties normally hold onto their looks when they become adults..
Or maybe I am not old enough to have witness enough young kids growing into mature adults -
i have a friend whose child is like that... as in, airhead, and trying to be pretty..
i really wonder.. some do learn how to wield that like a weapon... because it works..
i actually told someone once, if i had an argument with her, no matter how right i was, and how wrong she was, anyone looking in would side with her... because she was a beautiful woman and i'm just this ugly 6' lump...
and even if she hit me, she's still be right coz "i must have done something terrible and deserve it.. you go girl!"

Well, it's a normal human reaction to respond better to 'cuter' people and animals. Afterall, who prefers ugliness over beauty?
It's so true that good-looking people, men and women, will always get the better deal. They'll get much more attention, and yeah, they'll get better chances at a lot of other things too.
What's horrible to watch, is when someone pretty / handsome KNOWS they are drop-dead gorgeous, and starts to manipulate those around them for their own gain. When that happens, the ugliness within overrides whatever physical attributes they might have.
I had a coursemate once in night school whom everyone thought was kinda... well, 'not pleasing to the eyes'. But she turned out to be such a friendly, cheerful and helpful person that everyone started to like her and suddenly, despite her physical flaws, she morphed into a beautiful person, all because of her wonderful personality. 
Sometimes, we feel that the beautiful folks have the better deal, but do they really? Would you like to know that you're popular because of your beauty or because of your character?
And anyways, if one's beautiful, it's simply a matter of being blessed with good genes, not because of anything one did. That means, a lot to be thankful for but erm... nothing to be proud of.
