Well, not quite fair to discredit ALL self-help books with one swipe!Originally posted by the Bear:i've always believed that self-help books are written by people who con others in order to earn a lot of money for themselves
sorry...
just remember.. put your heart to it, do the best you can and be happy with life, because you will ultimately be happy if you are optimistic and decide to be happy
after figuring that out, i wonder how much "self help" one needs..
Out? I think it's called CutOriginally posted by the Bear:try something else lah
i'd recommend Banana Yoshimoto books coz they leave you with a nice warm fuzzy feeling
suspense, how about a different type?
there is this book called Out by Natsuo Kirino..
about women in a factory, murder and conspiracies which bind them together until they hate each other.. until the bloody end..
I wanted to read that book once... I think Bear's right - it's Out.Originally posted by elindra:Out? I think it's called Cut
Unless I read the title wrongly on my book
Too bad I can't go home to grab it. It's in Woodlands. It's about 4 Japanese women in a food packing factory or something right and one of them murdered their husband or something?Originally posted by Rhonda:I wanted to read that book once... I think Bear's right - it's Out.
Yup, that's the one! It has a cover where a lady's face is powdered stark white and there's the blade of the knife in front of the face and some blood somewhere. Erm... something like that!Originally posted by elindra:Too bad I can't go home to grab it. It's in Woodlands. I have been looking for this book!!Originally posted by Rhonda:Hiya, Twice A Day! Welcome to Club 30! Over here, we TRY to hold interesting discussions and hold flame wars at bay, although the odd clown or sleazebag would make their way in here now and then!
Ah... Tuesdays with Morrie, an excellent book! IMO, I'd call it a 'modern classic' because I'm sure it'll withstand the ravages of time and the finicky preferences of the modern-day readers. It's an extremely profound book, and not one to read when you're taking public transport because ... pai seh... I had to fight back tears once when I was reading it on a crowded train!
Have you read Morrie Schwartz' next book, "Five People You'll Meet in Heaven"? It's a pretty entertaining book and as usual, it has morals behind the tales. I happen to catch the short movie for it in the Hallmark channel too!
so, coolger, there you have it... two recommendations from me liao!
