Peter Gether's The Cat Who Went to Paris, and his 2nd book, A Cat Abroad. Both Peter and Norton, his cat, are food lovers and you will get interesting accounts of his travels and gastronomic adventures with his feline companion.
His final book on Norton the cat, The Cat Who'll Live Forever :

I cried my eyes out while reading his narrative of Norton's last days. And let me say this, its not easy to make me shed a single tear.
I haven't... but I trust av's judgement and choice because he lent me a book which I didn't get the chance to read but I managed to flip through it and it was really interesting!Originally posted by TehJarVu:really good ah?

Hey, TehJarVu, why don't you be the second person in here to read it, then come back and tell us if you thought it was good or not?
AV, thanks for the recommendation!!Originally posted by av98m:MUST READ for cat lovers!

Haha, I do read them once in while if I get lost in life. They kind of provide a direction, but most of the time I go in the opposite direction. Most of the solutions they provide are so common that I wish I have never read. But don't read still lost in life....Originally posted by the Bear:i've always believed that self-help books are written by people who con others in order to earn a lot of money for themselves
sorry...
just remember.. put your heart to it, do the best you can and be happy with life, because you will ultimately be happy if you are optimistic and decide to be happy
after figuring that out, i wonder how much "self help" one needs..
Bear, wonder if you saw this book in the library. Also of this description. It is an encyclopedia of all English phrases. Very thick man, almost like a science textbook in university. Wanted to borrow, but no strength carry the book. Too heavy liao.Originally posted by the Bear:i dunno.. if it's interesting
i'm reading books about how english phrases came to be.. people would hate it but they're wonderful to me
now, people seem to read financial journals like they are some kinda bible.. i get bored after about a paragraph
This book very chim. I read until almost fainted. And never learn anything from it. It isn't as simple as it seems though, I went to play around with it. Didn't get anything out of it. His other books are good too. Like the Big Bang and the Code Book. Stephen Hawking books are also nice. Explained the black holes in simple terms. Very simple to understand. He also attempted to write on the Big Bang, but can't really understand.Originally posted by the Bear:ahh.. how about a book about math?
try Fermat's Last Theorem by Simon Singh..
it's about the hardest equation in the world which is deceptively simple...
but then, within the book, it tells of the stories of the various mathematicians in history, their lives and their obsessions with math...
reads like a story.. but is wonderful
I thought somebody proved it before him? Andrew Wiles.Originally posted by sherling22:Fermat's Last Theorem was finally solved by a Princeton Prof in 2003 or 2004 (can't remember). he spent a decade on it and he won a million dollar prize!!!
