We've had the butter vs Margarine - How abt Ghee vs Butter?

It's supposed to be more flavoursome in cooking, no lactose for the lactose intolerant, higher burning point so you can do more types of cooking in it, and have wonderful ayurvedic qualities.
I dont know about the rest of you, but for YEARS in primary school, I have been taught LARD is fat from pig, and GHEE is fat from cow. No one ever told me ghee is actually clarified butter.
But.. I have never used ghee myself so wonder if anyone have tried? Share leh. -

nono.. ghee is NOT planta and it is NOT ba you pok
ghee is made from cow's milk (the same as butter)
except that after butter is formed, it is heated to remove the milk solids that is present in butter to make it a purer form of butter. That is why it is called Clarified Butter.
PLanta is shortening or margarine. High amount of transfat. Bad for health.
And ba you pok is... ehh.. pork fat. lard. -

Indians mostly use it in their cooking. Western cooking calls it just Clarified butter. And then sells it at double the price la.

ghee is dairy product!
clarified butter..
i like both.. the taste different and they are not really used to sub for each other...
i tried prata with butter.. not as good as prata with ghee.. -

One of my Primary School English teachers taught us that ghee was solidified fat from the lamb!! Now, I know that she's terribly wrong, and she has misled me and my entire class, but goddness knows how many other classes, into thinking the WRONG THING!! -

I use ghee for peanut suji. Mixed it with icing sugar, it gives a creamy and smooth paste. Then, throw in flour with crushed peanuts and viola!!! Peanut sugee! And sedap banyak banyak!!!
And it is expensive. A 500ml bottle cost almost C$7. -
