The nature of office politics is such that the more you try to stay out of it, the more it lands on your doorstep!Originally posted by av98m:Haizzz..... x 2.
Sometimes I also ask myself what kind of life is this, really. constantly sleep deprived and living only for the weekends, which fly by like a silent scream. And its not just the work, its juggling the work politics, as pointed out earlier. Its like recently I somehow got dragged into the affairs of a completely separate department quite by accident just because of a few things I said. Still, I count myself lucky that I at least have an air conditioned office and computer and internet access.
Also, looking at primary school kids these days, it seems that the rat race now starts at primary 1!
Yeah! I discovered early on that it seems quite impossible to be friendly to everyone because if you're nice to ,say, one person or one group of people, the people who do not like that person/group will also paint you with the same brush. And this gets really complicated at times. I've been tarred and feathered(figuratively speaking, of course) without knowing why before.Originally posted by Rhonda:The nature of office politics is such that the more you try to stay out of it, the more it lands on your doorstep!
I got a boss who like to knock off on time, so i always knock off on the dot with herOriginally posted by elindra:Welcome to the corporate world
It's the norm to work OT even you don't have to because it is only politically correct because everyone is doing it and there must be something wrong with you if you don't
Of course, it depends on the corporate culture and the boss as well. If you're lucky you get a boss who doesn't like OT unless necessary

Y'know, maybe that's why they go for such long lunch breaks... no one can bear to return to work too soon! Maybe when they're released out there for lunch, they start some emotional / psychological battle inside them to return to work or not and it takes them 2-3 hours to make themselves walk back to work.Originally posted by shinta:its not should.. but half the company's gone for that long..
anyway, its not that often.. most of the time its around 1-1.5 hours
and u wouldn wanna join...

Ideal working hours should be 10am to 4pm, with 12pm to 2pm for lunch break.
actually i think corporate world sightly better than NS. at least in corporate world, the boss don't give u extras just for every mirror mirror mistake u made, maybe just a very unfriendly e-mail to everyone in the department screwing u upside down.Originally posted by thousandisland:sigh the corporate world as you guys have described is very much what i'm experiencing now in ns. seems like i really have to make a serious decision on my future career path.
