Sad to say the same thing applies here in Australia! Why must people be so mean.. why can't everyone work together in harmony?! Afterall, we're all working towards one goal anyways.Originally posted by Rhonda:Hanor! Hanor!!
The thing is, I learnt very quickly when I first started work, that even if you keep to your own business and don't involve yourself in the politics, those politicking fools will come and tekan you and try to bully you so in the end, to protect yourself, you have to play the game wisely too.

singapore is not grossly overpopulated. in fact we need the numbers to spur the economy.Originally posted by av98m:But I already find Singapore very grossly overpopulated leh, I'd commit suicide if I were to live in China I think.
wait till you carry a blackberry then u know the pain of emails. u will be carrying your work wherever you go. i wouldn't mind the days where the most sophis item is a photocopier and a telex machine!Originally posted by Gordonator:one thing about office politics i hate is the e-mails. it is so convenient it hurts.
for example u make a small mistake, the boss can just shoot an e-mail down to everyone in the department and screw u upside down. it's incredible, he can do all the scolding without even meeting u face to face.
don't understand why people has this habit of CC very mirror little things to many many people, let so many people know.
Are we even talking about the same country? You must have a much higher threshold for population density than I do.Originally posted by JLennon:singapore is not grossly overpopulated. in fact we need the numbers to spur the economy.
yes, makes you wonder if they speak of you the same way in front of others.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:cos human beings are human beings lor. Look for problem for themselves. Sigh.
It's very scary when I am confronted with colleagues who backstab other colleagues in front of me.

And I betcha that they do. Cuz these people, they don't even love themselves, therefore, no one else they know can ever lead a life that's 'good enuff' either. All they do is gossip and criticize about anyone and everyone.Originally posted by av98m:yes, makes you wonder if they speak of you the same way in front of others.
Yeah.. it's .... I feel a bit awkward for them too. I mean, i wonder if they KNOW this is how most people will respond to them too... like u know.. a mixture of embarassment and awkwardness. Most of the time I will just be noncommittal. I won't pretend to say I have NEVER bitched abt my supervisor or my boss before... but most of the time, they know EXACTLY why I am pissed off with them already anyway. Can't hide my feelings very well.. which is why my ex boss can't stand me plus I don't por him.Originally posted by av98m:yes, makes you wonder if they speak of you the same way in front of others.
NO NO NO. For the simple reason people, especially office assistants, tend to be big gossips. If you had revealed the name your assistant might have well told everyone, including the person you named, possibly starting with the line"I've got something to tell you but don't tell anyone else hor...." And before you know it, the whole company knows. I'd just rather approach the person directly and ask for the file. I blame your supervisor in this case for not being able to control her subordinates.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:Would u have given the person's name in this circumstance? She didn't ask cos she was angry or anything, just like curious.
Well despite all our bitching and whining, work does have its moments. Like payday.Originally posted by Fatum:I'm getting scared liao ....

there is only so much you can learn from being in school.. then comes the school of hard knocks. aka school of life.. there are ups and of course there are downs.. i think it would be good to embrace this in its whole than shun it.. u can't hide from it forever.. and the sooner you learn the rules of the game.. the better..Originally posted by Fatum:I'm getting scared liao ....

Well, at the risk of sounding condescending, nobody's forcing you to do it. There is always the option of quitting your current job and finding another.Originally posted by Robotics999:Graduated with a Diploma in May 2002.
