Me still remembers the old days years backOriginally posted by Rhonda:I don't think that they can survive HALF A DAY taking our public transport at peak hours!!
When I go out with my aunt and mom, or with mom and dad, finding a parking space is soooo darn frustrating! It's also very stressful cause you have to keep looking out and make sure no one chioh with you and get your space instead. I think it's very easy for fights to occur over disputes over parking spaces!Originally posted by elindra:Let's talk about lack of parking space and traffic jams due to too many cars and the government thinking that putting up more ERP gantrys will ease the traffic.
That's total bullshit man. It's just an excuse to milk more money
Well life has been compeitiveOriginally posted by elindra:Ah well, life is going to get more competitive that is for sure
It isn't a healthy way to live, that's for sure!Originally posted by elindra:Ah well, life is going to get more competitive that is for sure

Imagine nice family outings marred by fights over parking spaces.
When we go to the beach on Sundays and we see the parking attendants issuing fines for cars that parked along the double-yellow lines on the road, I always mumble, "So much for Family Time!" and even mom and dad would be very vocal and say, "Just give these people a chance! It's a Sunday and they're probably bringing their kids and entire family out for a day of fun!!"
Yeah... it's all about the revenue!!
Dun be suprise if you find the train in melbourne insanely pack or super heavy traffic congestion too during peak hour. also have fun looking for parking space especially in city area if you going to park there during peak hour.Originally posted by Rhonda:This question, of course, is contrary to the govt's plans to hit a population of what... 6 million??
If I'm not wrong, we currently have 4.5 million now.
And if you look around, our resources are almost bursting at the seams already! Look at how insanely (and uncomfortably, and stinkingly) crowded our trains and our buses get during peak hours!!
I'm going to dig up statistics on population density, if possible.
In the meantime, I'm just glad that I'm leaving this place and won't stand the chance of being edged off the coastlines of the island-state!
I'll be quoting a few Club 30 peeps here, cause some really good points were brought up in our discussion in our Jive Pad.
Yeah... stressed at work, stressed at home (because of noisy neighbours and children's homework and children acting up cause they're stressed too), and then, stressed at recreation!!Originally posted by sbst275:What abt recreation?
Each time wanna go East Coast.. Otherthan lack of parking space, congested roads.. The park is always jammed packed with people ..
OK, I won't be surprised... so??Originally posted by strikefreedom:Dun be suprise if you find the train in melbourne insanely pack or super heavy traffic congestion too during peak hour. also have fun looking for parking space especially in city area if you going to park there during peak hour.

Maybe that's why there are more dieseases!
Nature's way of elimination on keeping the balance
It mean if you think singapore transportation system is too pack, you will find that other places is not in a better position too.Originally posted by Rhonda:OK, I won't be surprised... so??
That's the reason why nature has to come out with new dieseases to keep things in checkOriginally posted by Rhonda:
But we're keeping the sick and elderly alive longer and longer with modern medicine!
It's a financial drain on a lot of families. I've seen how torn these families are... they have to fork out a lot of money every month just to pay for the nursing home for their elderly folks... and it's a strain on everyone cause they have their own families to take care of at the same time.
Sometimes, I'm not sure keeping someone alive, with chronic illnesses and a decreased quality of life, is a good thing.
They might be equally as bad when it comes to public transport, but there will be other features that I will consider redeeming.Originally posted by strikefreedom:It mean if you think singapore transportation system is too pack, you will find that other places is not in a better position too.
Yeah, but we keep coming up with new cures!Originally posted by elindra:That's the reason why nature has to come out with new dieseases to keep things in check
Never ending vicious cycleOriginally posted by Rhonda:Yeah, but we keep coming up with new cures!
I have a disabled aunt that my mom and her siblings have to support. She recently had an episode of heart attack and we were told to 'expect the worst'. Don't know why, the docs worked zealously to keep her alive and now, she has a worse quality of life, and has to be transferred to a different nursing home, and suddenly, everyone has to come up with a lot more money to keep her there!
Everyone's saying, "What's the point?" and groaning under the increased financial burden.
And my family isn't an isolated case. I've come into contact with other families in my course of work where they fall short of asking us when the elderly will die because it's not nice of them to ask that, but you can see that they're struggling financially.
Really tough situation to be in.
I think you misunderstand what i am saying. i don't really care what ur reason is for migrating, what i am trying to point out is from part of ur previous post as stated below, you say it is bad, so i am just trying to point out that other countries such as Australia (i choose melbourne since i lived there for abt 4 years) is just as bad or can be even worst when compare to singapore.Originally posted by Rhonda:They might be equally as bad when it comes to public transport, but there will be other features that I will consider redeeming.
A place that's right for me, might not be right for you. But no place, no matter how good, is 'perfect'.
Public transport isn't the only issue that bugs me here. It certainly isn't a Push Factor for me at all when considering migration.
So... so what if their public transportation is equally bad?
Look at how insanely (and uncomfortably, and stinkingly) crowded our trains and our buses get during peak hours!!
PLEASE!!!Originally posted by grandeur:People are complaining about not enough living space and being over populated. What you want goverment to do? Merge Johor and Singapore for more living space? It will be very nice if Johor is given to Singapore for more living space.
