It has already happened. The white collar jobs are already being taken up by foreigners.Originally posted by Rhonda:You beat me to it! I was going to post this next!
And, you're absolutely right! Brace yourself for more foreign workers! Someday, it will no longer be easy for the govt to assure us that they are not depriving us of our jobs because they will no longer be here just for blue-collar jobs that our locals shun, but they will compete with us for the white-collar jobs too! Just wait and see... it will happen.
I was going to say, the "look" of the typical Singaporean has changed.Originally posted by SnowFlag:It has already happened. The white collar jobs are already being taken up by foreigners.
While singaporean guys served their 2 and 1/2 year of NS (now is 2 years), the gahment had already imported many indians and china national to study in NTU/NUS.
Now these ppl are everywhere.
What to expect when 1 out of 3 ppl aren't singaporeans (the statistic is my guess, since the gahment isn't telling).Originally posted by jetta:I was going to say that the last few times I was back, I noticed alot of people who didn't "look" Singaporean by way of dress and behaviour. Just didn't want to offend anyone with my comment. JMHO.
Agree. E.g. in the US, cost of living and population density can differ quite greatly from state to state.Originally posted by SnowFlag:BTW, pls dun compare singapore with the major cities of the world. It is not right.
Although certain things in the major cities is worse than singapore, the ppl there can chose to stay away from the cities. In Singapore we can't.
And they are going to get even more rude over the years as the overpopulation problem increases. I'm sorry to say that I've displayed rude behaviour myself when enraged by the sheer mass of people when I'm outside(e.g. there was this idiot in front of me that somehow had problems walking a in a straight line, I shoved him out of the way and when he fell and turned to look at me in shock I threatened to kill him if he got in my way again).Originally posted by jetta:Yes. Yes. Yes. I've been away for 14 years now. With each infrequent visit back, that's the first thing I notice, wondering did we have a population boom? Where did all these "extra" people come from? Friends there clued me in on the govt's population plan. But you know, with so many people packed into one tiny island, I feel that Singaporeans have gotten so rude! Just my 2 cents.
It's spelt 'thingamagig' lah!Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:i think we need to migrate..

No lah, that was nearly 3 years ago. I manage anger a lot better these days. My colleagues are the ones that notice the biggest difference. Used to be very hot tempered at work too.Originally posted by Rhonda:
