This is "The Residensea", it's a 'floating world' that started sailing round the globe in January 2002.
With 110 private apartments on board, each sells for a minimum of $2 million!! (I assume it's USD!
) There are also 88 guest suites on board.
Imagine, the ship travels to exotic locations and special events such as the Cannes Film Festival and the Grand Prix of Monaco, as well as 120 ports of call in 40 countries around the globe!! You can travel on board and alight at any time too, just check its itinerary and make your plans!
The floor plans of the apartments are very spacious too! Take a look at this layout!
"The only problem one foresees is that waking up each morning you're faced with the difficult decision of whether you're on holiday, at home or in the office. But that's the beauty of this idea - it's up to you! The facilities on the ship are such that you can combine all three. With five restaurants, two swimming pools, a theatre, a nightclub, a casino, a spa, a golf centre with driving range and tennis courts, even a jogging track; there's more than a fair share of ways to pass the time. On the home front, there's a village market, a hair and beauty salon, plus laundry and daily housekeeping services and a 24-hour delivery service from the on-board delicatessen. A series of continuous seminars will take place on topics as diverse as astronomy, photography, cooking, dance and history, to name just a few. Living on board the ship would be like taking a perpetual vacation where work is secondary!
Imagine, you laze around and enjoy the amenities on board for a few days and then ta-dah!! you land in a new port and can explore a new place!
Really not bad!
The only bad thing is... I'm not some tycoon who can afford this kinda lifestyle! -

After few days I would start to miss the nature, the walk in a forest, trees, animals, wide spaces other then the sea, meeting new people, not only those onboard. The ship sounds like a dream, but I think it would turn into a nightmare after some time. People squeezed on such little space (though it looks not small) would start to argue. I would get fed up soon. "Jailed" on the ship cut off of the rest of the world untill it lands somewhere.
The only wonderful thing would be the night sky at the sea and the sun sets and sun rises with a mild breeze. -
if they keep playing that "sail away, flail away, rail away", i'd probably sink the damned ship myself
with that horrific tune, and like those irritating Celtic Women sang their "chickens at the wheel", i'm going to sleep -
Come to think of it, I would miss the malls, hawker food, my friends, etc.

It's also a good 'hideout' for people who are famous because once on board, they can avoid the papparazi for a while and have a bit of sweet respite.
If they stop and berth at a dock every few days, allowing you to get off the boat and feel the land under your feet, it won't be that bad, I think. -

And... you know a lotta tycoons meh? Wah, can speak for them like that, ah?
My parents and friends know tycoons who ... SURPRISE!! ... actually spend good money on personal yachts, which are technically, also 'thing(s) on water'!
Basically, if you have a wide social circle, you'll find that things you used to think were ludicrous or ridiculous, can actually happen one! And I've personally been in close enough contact with two to three tycoons to know that the mighty rich can have super quirky habits and preferences one! -

What's there to pity? It's not like they're imprisoned on board wor... they CHOSE to be on board!
It can be such a luxurious lifestyle! Massage, fine dining, etc.
