Which industry doesn't hit a saturation pointOriginally posted by sbst275:But the telecommunication Ind will see a saturation point eventually...
Even so, they are paying too much for Shin... See their share price nowOriginally posted by elindra:Which industry doesn't hit a saturation point
It's precisely because it has potential that is why Temasek wants to buy in before it hits saturation.
If they do it like Singtel....Thai communication is still pretty much a monopoly kinda biz, it makes good sense.
Sure there will be competition but once you have a strong foothold it really doesn't matter that much in the future
Also telecommunication is fast evolving so it's something that won't die out so fast. Just selling new services
Share price coz of the current turmoil maOriginally posted by sbst275:Even so, they are paying too much for Shin... See their share price now

But like Monopoly, what you do at inital stages, you gain or lose eventuallyOriginally posted by the Bear:you know how i beat everyone at Monopoly when i was in the uni hostel?
i paid a "too high" price for strategic pieces of land.. and with those, i was a first mover into houses and hotels.. before the other people knew what was going on, they saw houses and hotels on the board and were paying dearly...
to which, the profits went back into buying up more stuff...
that's how to move when you have the financial clout of temasek

Actually in Monopoly you won't know either. Basically it's base on the roll of the dice. IF everyone heng heng never land on your expensive property, it's also no use.Originally posted by sbst275:But like Monopoly, what you do at inital stages, you gain or lose eventually

Kinda true...Originally posted by elindra:Actually in Monopoly you won't know either. Basically it's base on the roll of the dice. IF everyone heng heng never land on your expensive property, it's also no use.
No one can predict what is going to happen in the future for any business decisions. When you weight the pros and cons and it seems that there are more pros, then go for it. The telecommunications industry is very very lucrative in alot of developing countries. Thailand is too as it is pretty much controlled. That is why you pay thru your nose for IDD calls to Thailand. It's so much cheaper for me to call Canada/USA than Thailand.
