Latest scam email I received:
Dear Sir,
I work with a reputable insurance company in the United Kingdom with
branch offices in most parts of Europe.
An American solder, a Singaporean by birth used the services of our
company as a cover up to deposit (US$8.4M) with the U. S. Bank in the
United States.
The fund was acquired through the lootings of the Iraqi treasury by
the US and British soldiers during the Iraqi war.
Before the deposit was secured, the late solder maintained an online
(iBanking) account with the DBS bank in Singapore and the HSBC bank
where he instructed our company to direct the transfer at the end of
the deposit period.
Unfortunately, he was killed in one of the bomb attacks by the Iraqi
Islamic fundamentalist.
Following his death, he was a divorcee without any children and does
not have any family who knows about the deposit or who shall claim the
fund deposit.
I will need the assistance of an honest person in Asia, preferably in
Singapore who has a bank account with the DBS or HSBC bank or who
shall open a new bank account with any of these banks and who shall
work with me in honesty to claim the deposit.
There is no risk involved, I have the modalities worked out for a
smooth and safe operation.
Contact me back urgently if you are interested and shall work with me in
honesty.

I receive so many different versions that it's amazing that so many people in the world actually have vast amounts of unclaimed $ But this is the first time I see one that mentioned a Singapore bank -

Firstly, any letter that a company sends you and addresses you as Sir or Madam is a fraud.
Secondly, any letter that a company sends but addresses you as Mr/Mrs/Mdm/Ms/Dr xxx is likely to be legitimate.
Lastly, any letter that has spelling mistakes is not worth looking at because it shows his dumbness. Obviously a scam. -
