Have you had your first Manicure and Pedicure? Do you go for them frequently?
I just had my very first Manicure and Pedicure yesterday!
Since I'm in-between jobs (yeah, technically, I'm no longer 'unemployed' liao! ), my friend decided to drag me to her spa for both.
Whilst looking at my newly-painted bright pink fingernails, I remember thinking, "They look so much like... talons, instead of fingers now!"
And, I grabbed the opportunity to have my two big toenails painted! YES!!! *punches the air! FINALLY!! Should've stuck to the design that caught my eye in the first place though, but my friend declared it was "Like mamasan!" so I chose a more subtle design which I now regret. 
Siiiigh... should've gone with big, loud and bold! Should've gone with Da Mamasan!! 
So, come! Share you experience and recommendations, if any!

The pedicure was a tad ticklish.
Oddly though, the left food didn't feel ticklish but the right foot, whoa! -
Yep I have enjoyed the experience of going for mani's & pedi's twice in my life!
Once in Singapore, and once in Bali. Very shiok

I still prefer a spa treatment compared to a Mani and Pedi but it's a good way to waste time

I'm cheap, me Most of the time I go for an Express Pedi. It's quicker too so I don't waste time - get it done quick and it's back to the shopping
Once a while I'll splurge on a full pedi.
I only do pedis cos I favour open toed shoes. The right colors make my feet look fairer. LOL
I'm rough with my hands so manis aren't worth it cos they don't last long... pedis last longer. And painting your own toe nails is such a hassle.... all that bending and body twisting , I feel like a contortionist -
My first mani n padi is like ...10 yrs ago... not so hot dat time..n no..d designs aren't as fanciful as now... oops...reveal how old i am liao..
I've stopped gg many yrs ago and now i think it's time to go back.. Those coarse sore feet need some rubbing n creaming.. but only padi i think, cos mani is useless to me, it gets off veri soon. -

I think clean and well kept nails are a must, especially for ladies. Doesn't mean that you have to splurge on a mani/pedi every week, though... it just takes a little bit of time and effort to do the basics and keep your fingernails / toenails groomed.
Next to your face, the fingers are in constant view of whomever you meet. (I'm blatantly disregarding the ah-peks and the chee hongs running rampant out there
) Somehow having nice, well kept and clean fingernails would give the impression of hygiene. And if you wear nail polish, there's nothing that irks me more than chipped polish! 
Imagine seeing this lady... well groomed, beautiful and poised. You are intrigued. You think to yourself... hmmm.... attractive.
and then you see the chipped red polish.
So much for that.
All we actually need for upkeep and maintenance is a nail file, cuticle scissors, and a buffer. Relatively cheap items. The net has many sites showing you how to do a simple manicure / pedicure at home. Experiment with pretty colours! Spend a bomb at the manicurist, and you can only have one. Get a colour chipped on one nail, and you have to redo all ten fingers!

And guys... toejams and scaly nails are a big turn off. Seriously. -

I still have eczema on my fingers.
Kena because of the frequent handwashing with Hibiscrub during the SARS period and after that, the condition would vary depending on how often I handwash and how often I come into contact with any household detergent.
So, if you were to look at my fingers, they'll be in a sorry state - very very dry with flaky skin in various stages of peeling off like that. But it's not cause I don't take care of them - I DO moisturize! But, the damage to my epithelial layer is already there. 
Soooo, don't judge me by my shabby fingers, hor? -
I'm not bothered by the state of men's feet actually, as long as they're clean and not smelly lah. Hardly bother with them, I like guys rough-ish anyway, you want a bit of friction with them. Same goes for their fingernails, short and clean is good enough... no long pinkies though heeheh

haven't filed down my nails for ages so the ridges are showing.. but what the heck? as long as they don't crack like they do when i don't file them down
