I remembered mom rebuking me now and then with a very stern look, a warning shake of her forefinger, and the declaration that "Children should be seen, not heard!"
Grandma would also keep shushing me whenever I spoke too loudly in public or started misbehaving because to her generation, you have to be considerate to those around you who don't wish to be disturbed.
Sadly, these values are more or less lost, cause these days, you can hear rowdy children and esp teenagers way before you can even catch a glimpse of them.
It's ok to have a fun time, but well, we should also pay a little consideration to others too.
These days, I feel we need to tone down our volumes a little, esp in places like libraries, cinemas, hospitals and clinics.
Well, it's good that some places are pro-family but hopefully, not ALL!
I don't mind families being around, as long as the kids don't misbehave but more often than not, the parents don't seem to know how to control their kids and instil a bit of discipline when they misbehave and throw hissy fits.
I guess the problem is not whether places ought to be pro-family or not, but the rather, the malady lies in parents who are too lax in disciplining their kids.
Establishments that dare to hang up the "No Children Allowed" sign will be bound to suffer from the bad publicity that will ensue. Besides, it's not ALL children who are the problem and I'd hate to discriminate against the well-behaved kiddos!
