Was a beautiful day today so we decided to make an impromtu visit to the San Diego Zoo. Hubby said that military get in free on Sundays but we still paid alot just for the kids and I. Entrance totalled $71.
Even with a $12 off coupon!!! I usually bring sandwiches and such but this time I didn't since it was unplanned. Big mistake. We were at the park for 6 hours and had to feed the kids twice. First makan bill came to $38 and the second came to $32. Some of the enclosures were empty so I asked hubby, I want a refund for those.

Many other people thought today was a perfect day to be at the Zoo too.
$3 for a 35 minute bus ride around the park, with commentary, or $10 for an all day pass.
Cable car, also $3 per person, from one end of the park to another. Would have been more enjoyable if I didn't have a fear of heights.
Given their showbiz culture, I would have thought their animal shows would be great. Give me our Singapore Zoo presentations anytime. They always get a laugh out of the kids and I.
Did you know that the skin of the rhino, though it looks tough, is actually very sensitive?
These giant tortoises have been at the zoo since 1921!

Waaaaah!! Makes me wanna return to our Singapore Zoo!
I shall no longer complain that our zoo prices are steep! Oh man, you had to give an arm and a leg to enter the SD Zoo!

you havent seen the Atlanta zoo yet, it was so crappy that i left after an hour, i saw everything in that 1 hour.. yes.. just 1 hour, non stop walking, i covered the whole zoo.
i enjoyed the Georgia Aquarium though, it just opened in November last year. it took me about 5 hours to cover everything. very interesting place to be, alot of fishes, biggest viewing window in the world currently. awesome experience. -

Y'know, that rhino looks like an armadillo with what looks like hard-shell 'shields' on it's body!

i find that the singapore zoological gardens is more than just a notch above the atlanta zoo. it may even be in the tenfolds. i remembered that as a child. the zoological gardens was THE PLACE TO BE.. the entrance was already awesome enough, first stop? A and W. then stroll around the park, watching all the animal shows, having fun at the extremely big bouncy nets, the swimming pool, although its a little dirty. those were the days.. ahha.. =D.Originally posted by Rhonda:How do you think our Singapore Zoological Gardens rate in comparison?

i am proud to say that with regards to Zoological Gardens.. Singapore has done an extremely good job. -

Frankly, the Singapore Zoo will always have a soft spot in my heart. The only thing I don't like about our Zoo is the smell and the mosquitoes. I love the animal shows, they just crack me up. The childrens' zoo has so much to offer, can swim some more. My kids always ask to visit the zoo whenever we visit Sg. The prices are good too. I'm kicking myself for not having gone to the zoo in Japan. The kids got to experience it on their school field trip and they said they liked it.
We intend to hit as many parks while we're here. Our next trip will be to Legoland. Stay tuned. -
I don't think I'll ever get to experience the Georgia Aquarium. Got pics? The one aquarium that I'm hankering to go see is the one in Monterey. *drooling* You've reminded me of the aquarium we visited in Japan. I loved the Van Kleef Aquarium! Used to go there alone after school when I was in Upper Sec. I've been to the Baltimore Aquarium and last year, visited KLCC's Aquaria. I'm very impressed with Aquaria but nothing beats the Dolphins Show at the Baltimore Aquarium!
I haven't been to our own Underwater World, btw. Heard that it's smaller than Aquaria, and the entrance fee is definitely steeper! -

its like a million times better than the one here.
and thats saying a lot because i personally feel that the zoo in singapore is great.

Granted that San Diego has animals that the Sg zoo doesn't have like the Silver Back Ape, koalas, etc, the animal shows in Sg are way better, more interactive. The Apes were awesome.
