Think local First Aid also the same.. from Red Cross.. mebbe every 3 years and they also give you a card to keep in ur wallet..Originally posted by av98m:I'm not so sure about the law in Singapore quite frankly. My certification was through a US based agency, and needs to be renewed on a yearly basis to ensure proficiency. They give you a certification card to keep in your wallet.
A stranger did collapse in front of me once and everyone else was just gawking. I called for an ambulance but did not touch him. The ambulance took about 15 minutes, by then he had regained consciousness but was not coherent.
I'll just call for an ambulance and let the paramedics deal with it. They're trained and paid to do this. Not me.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:ya since u can get sued whether u are certified or not... doesnt make a difference right? It's really up to whether you want to do it or not...

I still see idiots cycling on pavements and overhead bridges , and speeding somemore.Originally posted by elindra:But I think the retard who sued LTA for putting those poles on the overhead bridge won coz he didn't see it and hurt himself while riding on his bicycle?
I dunno if he won coz of compassion by the judge all what seeing that he is the sole breadwinner.
Seriously, I was pretty disgusted by the news coz this was the result of his own stupidity and also why the hell is he riding his bicycle on the overhead bridge. If he can injure himself so seriously on the pole, imagine if it was another person

provided you can swim very well BUT if you have no lifeguard training.
Ya la he must be speeding to get himself paralysed!Originally posted by av98m:I still see idiots cycling on pavements and overhead bridges , and speeding somemore.
If they do that, they can sue me for using little johnny's baseball bat, on little johnny's head that is currently not covered by little johnny's baseball hat.Originally posted by the Bear:they'll sue you for not recovering little johnny's baseball hat
I think they should be spanked.Originally posted by Rhonda:OK, this scenario...
Nurse sees elderly patient pulling out her feeding tube.
Nurse gets a new feeding tube and prepares to insert the tube so that when feeding time comes round, the old lady can be fed via the tube.
Patient struggles violently and shakes her head with great strength, thrashing about. Nurse calls for help from colleagues because patient is getting violent, kicking her and gripping her wrist in a tight grip.
Nurse's colleagues help to hold patient down. One colleague holds on to patient's head tightly to prevent her from shaking her head. Finally, after a lot of difficulty and struggles, the feeding tube is inserted but due to patient's movements, a bit of bleeding had occured from the nose due to possible trauma.
Patient's family comes to visit around dinnertime, sees a drop of dried blood near patient's nostril, and slight bruising on the wrists where the patient was held down, ask about what happened. When informed, they flew into a rage, saying that the nurses should have been 'more gentle', and started to hurl accusations at the nurses, and march right up to the Ward Sister, and threaten to lodge a formal complaint over the 'mistreatment' and 'physical abuse' of the patient.
What do you think of this scenario? And yes, it IS a real incident.
If its in a swimming pool yes.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:What if its a drowning case? If you see someone drowning, would u help?

Well, guess the implication is, if you tried to help, and the person died, and you don't have an up-to-date certification for CPR, that would create one more point against your case because you'd be an 'untrained personnel' who 'caused the death' of the person due to your 'ignorance'.Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:ya.. i know.. and i was pointing out to him why it wouldnt matter

if this is somewhere else .... the LTA would have countersued the cyclist for cycling on the wrong place ....Originally posted by av98m:I still see idiots cycling on pavements and overhead bridges , and speeding somemore.
