Eateries Serving Items That Aren't Fresh

Just wanted to rant...
This evening, I was at Mos Burger at Plaza Singapura. I ordered a burger for takeaway, alongside a cup of Pink Guava Juice.
Whilst waiting for my burger, I decided to sit down and drink my juice first. My word, it was awful! The juice was room temperature, and on top of that, there was a weird sourish taste to it!
I sipped it a few more times just to be sure and true enough, the juice tasted 'off'!
I went up to the counter, and informed the counter staff that their juice tasted off. The cashier got hold of the Supervisor, who poured a small amount of the juice into her cup, then she made sure she stood out of sight and the cashier looked like she was communicating to the hidden manager cause you could tell from her facial expression.
The Supervisor then offered to replace my drink with another drink of similar value. So, I decided on Iced Lemon Tea because no way was I going to order the Pink Guava Juice again.
Yucks!!
She headed towards the kitchen, then after a while, returned and said she'll replace it with Pink Guava Juice, but she'll take a new batch.
From the facial expressions of the staff, it was easy to see that even though they replaced the stale juice, they must have thought that I was trying to find fault, that I was trying to be a difficult customer, or even, that I was trying to get a different drink and that was my tactic to get it free (that's probably why she decided not to change my drink order to the Ice Lemon Tea afterall). She insisted that there was nothing wrong with the drink.
I was extremely unhappy about being treated like I was trying to be difficult, but I didn't want to raise a ruckus and they did replace my drink and gee, it tasted so different from the stale one I was served! The first drink they gave me was definitely bad!
Instead of being apologetic for serving stale juice that tasted a tad rancid, they made me feel bad, like I was finding fault and being troublesome. I walked away without saying anything more after getting my drink but truth be told, I hated the entire episode.
Have you ever been served food that was spoiling or downright stale or really yucky? What did you do? Did the restaurant try to remedy the situation? -
eh..i not so fussy or wad la..i just dislike prata that has been left outside for a long time to be served to me..

Packet fruit juice like peel fresh suits me fine. Dun dare to order "freshly squeezed juice"

Some of the staff are so inflexible. I know some of these fast food chain got protocol one and some staff really stick by it when some are trivia matters.
Once I got my french fries from Mac. I find the fries was too little when it was served to me on the tray.
I asked the counter staff if it was too little.
The staff went to get the manager, who asked thw staff to top up the fries. I was thinking...you so dumb can't tell that the fries was too little..and you have to ask you manager??? You mean you top up to the mark Mac lose lots of $$$???

Since you're not so fussy, I should've asked them to save the entire tank of Pink Guava Juice for you to drink. It's not a matter of being fussy or not when it comes to the freshness of your food... it's a matter of food hygiene and protecting yourself from unnecessary food poisoning! -

I feel that there are staff in Delifrance who end up being stingy with the filling they give you for your sandwich. Some are sooo downright thrifty with the filling that it's amazing they don't feel plagued by guilt! I feel like asking the errant staff sometimes, "Would YOU fork out $6 or so for a sandwich meal with THIS much filling?!" -

It's not a matter of being fussy or not when it comes to the freshness of your food... it's a matter of food hygiene and protecting yourself from unnecessary food poisoning!
so might as well tahan and avoid in future.. -

To tahan stale food, is pure folly! Why in the world would you pay to eat stale food or food that's turning bad?!

yea..i had not fresh fish before and stuff,but i just either get on with it or leave the place and never come back..
i wun go talk to the manager and complain,and its not because i'm shy or scared too,its just that i find it bothersome to have to argue etc... -

You have to let them know that there is something wrong before someone falls ill from consuming anything that has gone bad. -

Anyways, it's not being nice if you don't alert the staff to your stale food because they might serve another table the same stale food later and other people might kena food poisoning as a result.
In all cases, the manager will not argue with you if the food's not fresh. It's more of an embarassment to them, as an eating establishment, to have served you bad food, more than anything else. THey're usually very happy to rectify the situation. And nope, you usually don't need to complain, just talk to them can liao.
You have to learn to be assertive!
Get what you're paying for, not throw your money away! -

From a microbiological viewpoint, food spoil is just lost of sensory factors like tastes, smell, etc. Dosent meant it cant be consumed ma. If not, how come ppl consume spoilt foods like yoghurt, cheese, stinky tofu, etc, rite?Originally posted by Rhonda:

stinky? moldy? flies on top? ...
the food you mentioned are made that way ...
i think they are all talking about food made to be consumed as tasty but turned bad -

hmm chilli sauce considered?
Actual food itself i can't really remember a case where it is served to me but chilli sauce is pretty frequent since i am a huge chilli sauce fan.You know those chilli sauce that hawkers put in one big bowl then use a ladle to scope into the small dish to be served,such chilli sauce if left unused for the day will be left and used the next day (i think that is what they do),and there are quite a few cases where i can definately taste that the chilli sauce has gone bad since no chilli sauce should taste sourish -

But if the hawkers really re-use the leftover chilli sauce, then that's bad and can cause food poisoning in a worst case scenario. It's not practicing good food hygiene that way!
