Basically, marketing ploys are marketing ploys. It doesn't mean a thing to make claims like "Research institutes recommend... " or "Doctors highly recommend..." because hey, stuff like Vioxx and Fen-Phen etc came 'highly recommended' by Physicians and what happened in the end? People started dying off from adverse side effects of Fen-Phen and Vioxx started to be associated with certain aggravated cardiac conditions!
Besides, like elindra rightfully pointed out, they may only have just three dentists endorsing it and they can go around claiming that "DentistS recommend..." their products.
Product claims, even when backed by professionals, sometimes amount to nada. If you're older than elindra, you should know better than to be easily swindled by marketing ploys.
Have you tried certain supposedly ergonometrical pillows and what not? A few of these products actually have the backing of some chiropractic institution in the US and what-not... but if you were to actually try the products, they might not live up to their claims. Never take things at face value.
You seem to be extremely scared of having your opinions contradicted. Stay around long enough and you might realise that here, we thrive on an exchange of opinions, sometimes, heated exchanges happen, but we're in it for the intellectual stimulation it gives us, and even if we voice opposition to someone's opinions, it does not translate into something personal UNLESS the person is a proven anal character!
So, get used to facing differing opinions in here!

elindra already mentioned coffee and tea stains. So yeah, the toothpaste should be able to remove the yellowish stains from those causes.
However, my yellowish teeth aren't due to such stains but according to various dentists over the decades, they all say it's due to my enamel layer wearing thin. Apparently, it's pretty common amongst Asians because our enamel layer is somehow thinner and therefore, gets worn down faster and the yellow dentine layer gets exposed, thereby giving the teeth a yellowish appearance.
I guess for me, the only remedy is to go for those lovely Da Vinci veneers, as showcased in those Extreme Makeover shows! At US$1,000 a tooth, it's an option... NOT!!

In what way I'm jumping to conclusions? I'm just stating a fact that with proper oral care you won't suffer from gum problems and tooth decay and not so much on the product itself per se.
I'm also just stating in general about marketing tactics by advertisers and how consumers react in general. Why are you taking it so personally? It's also my reply on why am I not swayed by their ads.
At the same time, for someone who has yet to try the product, you seem to be pushing all the advertised points of Colgate to the point that it sounds like you are selling the product. That was why I asked if you are working for Colgate.
I'm not telling you that Colgate is better or Darlie is better. I'm telling you why I prefer Darlie over to Colgate and the common marketing tactics.
Anyway, how effectively can you measure the protection anyway? I would think that you won't see much difference anyway unless you have gum or tooth problems. I seriously doubt that changing the toothpaste brand will help or have a huge difference in effects.
Anyway back to the point of why I think you're selling Colgate. That's because you see to be pushing the product so hard

My brother and I used to use Colgate whilst mom and dad used Darlie but somehow, when I started running my own household, I started to use Darlie and actually prefer it over Colgate now. -

I think Kodomo does a whole lot of good in encouraging li'l ones to start brushing their teeth early. Their toothpastes are a really great idea - smells delicious, tastes pretty good, and are harmless if swallowed. Ah well, anything that encourages the children to brush their teeth! -
