I haven't watched that movie either. Not quite keen to watch two men loving each other...Originally posted by Fatum:just downloaded brokeback mountain .... wanted to see what's the fuss about ...

SiS had Meg Ryan, back when she actually looked good. 'Nuff said!Originally posted by av98m:How can anyone not like Forrest Gump and Sleepless in Seattle?
*av98m has a weakness for soppy romantic comedies and stuff*
That I haven't. Last romantic comedy I watched was Just Like Heaven. It was so nice! And the part where the doctors fall asleep while eating their meals in the hospital reminds me of youOriginally posted by Rhonda:av, have you watched Serendipity? I've watched it sooooo many times but I love it each and every time!
She and Hanks have good chemistry. I loved You've Got Mail too!Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:SiS had Meg Ryan, back when she actually looked good. 'Nuff said!
Agreed. YGM was probably the last decent MR-centric movie.Originally posted by av98m:She and Hanks have good chemistry. I loved You've Got Mail too!

Me too, mah! I love love love horror and am fascinated with gore and can watch them unflinchingly sometimes. Morbid fascination with the darker side of human nature!Originally posted by av98m:That I haven't. Last romantic comedy I watched was Just Like Heaven. It was so nice! I've obviously got split personality problems. I enjoy all the soppy romantic comedies but then I also like the creepy Japanese AVs
I love "You've Got Mail"!Originally posted by the Bear:you got mail was worse...
seriously...
pandering and insipid...
there are very few romantic movies out there which capture the imagination.. alas, those captured box office takings, nothing much else...
The thing that irritates me to no end about Hanks is how he feels that having starred in a blockbuster WWII film ('Saving Ryan's Privates') has made him an "authority figure" on all things related to that era, to the extent that he felt compelled to produce and direct 'Band of Brothers.' I viewed some of the extras on the BoB DVD, including an interview with him in which he was recounting how it must have felt to have been a US soldier in Europe after D-Day. And all the while, I was thinking, you weren't born in that era, you never fought in that era, how the f..k would you know how a WWII vet from that era would feel about having fought in that campaign????Originally posted by the Bear:aha.. the common factor: Tom Hanks.. who is a severely overrated hack and ham of an actor...
Well, I basically skipped his interview although the interviews with the actual vets like Winters were good. BOB is a very nicely done mini-series, so you gotta give Hanks and his military advisors/consultants credit for that.Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:The thing that irritates me to no end about Hanks is how he feels that having starred in a blockbuster WWII film ('Saving Ryan's Privates') has made him an "authority figure" on all things related to that era, to the extent that he felt compelled to produce and direct 'Band of Brothers.' Ryan did an okay job in that movie. I liked her best in "The Presidio," where she played Mark Harmon's love interest.Originally posted by Rhonda:I love "You've Got Mail"!
Thing is, I've always felt that Casablanca is waaaay overrated.Originally posted by the Bear:if couples are not allowed to disagree over something as trivial as movies, the relationship isn't really strong, is it?
besides, put those movies beside truly romantic movies like Casablanca and True Romance, you will notice that they are pandering and insipid
