... come across (a) post(s) in a thread someplace that makes you completely, utterly exasperated?
Now, we don't have a reason to be if someone else were just stating their point of view - which understandably, may be entirely different from ours.
But there have been times when someone argues a point till there is a dead end, and there is nothing left that makes sense to bring up. Yet, perhaps due to human beings' competitive nature... or perhaps the innate natural need to defend oneself, they go on and on - and end up contradicting themselves, or worse - totally going out of point.
And then there are times when we cannot understand the post itself, either because it simply does not relate to the topic, or it contains literary abuse so profound that we cringe inwardly, unconsciously.
The trolls should just remain where they should be. Between the pages of a mythical storybook - and not attempt to venture into virtualspace to poke, prod, goad and create secular groups amongst the members.
I do so wish that sometimes I could just post this link in response without any ill feelings, but we do live in a civilised society (yes, so far... even in cyberspace) and it just wouldn't be right at all.
So... I'll just go by the golden rule. If I have nothing good or constructive to say, I'll just shaddap.

The most recent ones are those that compare JC and Poly, and can't rem which idiot posted about pouring sweet drinks into drain and not throw them into the rubbish bin. -
actually, lots of times...
most are in the religious forums... if one cannot understand the meaning of "faith" and chooses to badger people about it, challenging and belittling others' faith, and sneering at what others believe in, they should not be there..
it would mean that the person is trying his damnest to deny what he believes in... i figure, if you are willing to spend so much time and effort on trying to disprove something like religious faith, or to shake another's faith, you sure as heck have an agenda, and i wager, a person one..
but then, there are trolls.. we communicate by building bridges with words, they live under these bridges and try to ambush the travellers...
you have mentioned what everyone should practice when it comes to these trolls... i usually say "Do not feed the trolls" -

It's gonna be quite tiring to be emotionally affected by such posts cos.. while.. there are so many of them you know... -peers lazily-
Hmm.. I rarely get emotionally involved in the posts here so while I do get amused with some posts, most of the time I don't get irked enough to feel irritated or anything.
Of course I do still offer my opinions, occasionally argue about them but hmmm.. rarely enough to feel seriously upset and irritated or pissed off or... -yawns-
....I suspect cos I am too lazy to ... really do anything about it...
