Greetin to all,
Hav anyone here tot of migrating to another country?I'm sure many of us here at least encountered frens , relatives or pples in ur wk place who r planning to do so.

yeah.. in the past
then i realised something.. i like this place.. no.. i love this place
just like in love between a couple, you love the place, warts and all...
but saying that, one must remember that one leaves the problems and disadvantages of this place, and takes up different problems and disadvantages of the other place...
gotta take the good with the bad...
but ultimately, i have also figured, where you lay your head is home... and it is where the heart is
if you are comfortable in another country, and find that you can make a home there, and there is where your heart is, then it is there you should go...
for in the end, each must find their own place in the sun

but if you are poor you cant emigrate in the first place. -
If u guys check the data wf the immigration dep u all will be surprised by the large figure of s'poreans in the waiting list

As for the second-class citizen issue, my move was more a matter of me liking Oz more than of me disliking Singapore more. Unfortunately, those who wish to keep you where you are tend to resort to scaremongering in order to prevent you from considering your options. -

More often than not it's one's perception of being second-class, rather than the reality. -

as for me, when i was in aust, i was called "sushi" by some ppl.
when i was in a shop (me shopping for souvenirs la), the sales lady did not even bother to serve me. enven though i smile at her when i entered. so what i did was i left the shop and got my friend who is an angmoh, to enter and see if the lady would do the same. and guess wat, she smiled at him and served him like he was some vip! -
That's a tough break. Can't say I've had that experience in Oz, although when I'm on holiday back in Singapore quite a number of sales staff have ignored me in favour of someone who was better dressed.

it is such incidences that really puts me off visiting aust again. let alone live there.
by the way i was in sydney. does it matters ? i mean is it more racial in sydney? -
Can't say - I'm not too familiar with Sydney, although the Cronulla riots do indicate that they do have some issues there. You shoulda come to Melbourne instead.

Just in Sydney , they have middle eastern gangs (esp lebanese ones) which are a problem unlike in Melbourne. They are basically sh*t stirrers. You see them around in Sydney and they create nothing but trouble. When the law catches up with them - they play the race card against you "OOOh u discriminate against me boohoo because I am middle eastern boohoo" .
Those middle eastern gangs go around disturbing girls in bikini at cronulla so the locals retaliated . Unfortunately the mob mentality took over and everything blew up sky high for both sides. -

I have, still considering it. I'll see where the best opportunities in my desired field lie...and also where my significant other wants to be.

maybe i would move to Tahiti or Koh Samui to retire there
