Being to Australia.
Not that keen on canada.
And I still find life in Singapore is moving like warp speed. Especially since I now know there is life besides being just a typical female. -

The convenience means nothing to me. esp since Singapore is not really that much more convenient than say, a mid-sized city in the UK.
Take online shopping for instance. I have amazon.co.uk, comet.co.uk, pixmania.co.uk and auction sites that actually have auctions going on, like ebay.co.uk.
And there are loooads of takeaways in the UK (on which see my thread "Choose my Dinner" for an idea of how terrible Singapore is on ehte home delivery front).
So... UK 1 Singapore 0.
There is a saying, to be born british is to win the lottery of life. I would say to be born Singaporean is to win the bloody consolation prize in the lottery of life - you are better off than some, but really, there is nothing to shout about. -

I like my little base in Singapore.
The place I can still get a job to earn my keep.
A small subsidised flat to shelter me when I sleep.
Where going downstairs means a hawker centre to eat any 5 meals.
And my friends are all there. Where anytime, at any spontanous moment. We can simply say: 'Eh...my fuel tank empty. lets ride to JB to fill petrol and eat nasi lemak.' (At 3 am in the morning.)
Its how you make yourself at home. Not the country. So still. Good Luck in your migration. Hope only that you are doing it with your own means and not your parents. -
Well, in my blog, I mentioned about Seattle USA.
Somehow, I love the place.
Yet, there is no reason for me to settle there even after all the heartbreaks and horrific life I had back home in Singapore.
Singapore is where I am still rooted and rooting for. -
Anyway, even if I have been to any country, from Australia to now USA.
It isnt the same as migrating here and having to still rely on the family back home to support.
Consider Migration only if you have the ability to find work at the country of your choice. Not because you like the lifestyle as a tourist or a student.
In other words. Migrate only if your skills are needed. Not your parents money. That is the only way to garantee your own happiness. -

If people are thinking about migrating to Canada I think doing it before 30 will be a good time. many avenues to go there. Have a bit of cash and have a long waiting time would be good so age is important. Education, cash, and most importantly your work experience is important.

Welcome ironbandit to Canada....I've been here about a year already and I can say that it sure beats Singapore anytime. I migrated when I was way past 30 so no worries to those slightly more elderly....We ex-Sillyporeans in Canada welcome you all....

OH MY GOSH!!!!
I found out last night that one of my colleagues, who's earning the highest salary cap for RN's here is earning over A$55K per annum pre-tax!
And another colleague who's earning that same cap but takes on extra shifts is earning over A$70K per annum pre-tax!
And they're just 'normal' nurses who've just had nine years of experience or more cause nurses' pay here is capped at Year 9.
Wow... another few years and I'll reach those levels! That's really SOMETHING to look forward to!!
