i'd write all kinds of stuff which will get you the extra 15 marks but i'd forget to write the obvious stuff which will get me 35 marks -
yeah... i'm really lousy at summary too. Which was why I nearly flunked my journalism unit for first two semesters. Its so difficult to be just REPORTING and not creative.. And to SELECT the most important thing to report. Especially Radio Journalism when u need to condense a 200 word report into 30 seconds.
So changed a major instead. -
sadly, this went into my uni days..
where i'd put in the assignments things the other people have not thought of, and then not write the blindingly obvious.. been lectured by lecturers about that.. they said that if i had just written in the obvious, they would have given me a HD.. but because i had not even mentioned it, they could only pass my paper or at most, give me a Credit for (their words) "unique analysis" of the assignments

lets see...compre --> can fail (or pass)
summary --> usually pass by a few marks
compo --> can pull my average up to an A.
weird ass shit...
i still dont get it...whats the point of doing all those compres??? -
through nursery.haha. and my family speaks english. most of them do. so tt's hw i learn english.

I started with Enid Blyton (spell?) and then the Liverpool series when I found out that when you're hot, you usually goes "Arrrrrrrgh........" and "Mooooaaaannn....". I
ts really educational and recommended to the children of today (only the former, ok ?)
These days, its whatever thats not too expensive cos the prices of some books are really nonsensical. -

my english was really bad... ddin even know any english words when i went to primary 1.... cos my kindergarden was in kampong... they dont teach english there.... so really struggled... i remembered writing chinese words (my chinese was really good then compared to others cos the kampong kindergarden was 'chinese-based') on top of the english words in my english textbook so that i know how to pronounce them.... the most memorable one was the word 'papaya'... wrote 'pa4 pa4 ya4' (father's teeth') on top of that!!

Sounds familiar? Loved reading about Peter and Jane. Too bad I never thought to hang on to them. But I still have some of my Ladybird books. I was so mesmerized by the beautifully rich illustrations. Too bad I can't say the same about the Ladybird books of today. -
I was taught in the usual way-- learning my ABCs and reading books. I also had a pasty faced American broad in first grade who used to give us grammar exercises. Not exactly my fondest memories, but hey, at least I'm not suffering from PTSD.

they use to have this speak english campaign in primary school..
and cos i fooled around in kindergarten, the first time i actually got into contact with english was in primary 1..
sick of getting all my cards confiscated... i started asking ppl "how do u say in english?"
for the first time after dunno how many stupid mths... i kept all 5 cards.
i still rmb my maths teacher made me stay back after school so she could teach me maths in mandarin.. so nice..
at least i learned to recognise certain words...
the rest of my vocab were from pri 2 onwards -
