Pen Pals

  I had quite a few in my early teens, the pre-pre-pre email days. There was a show on TV called The Big Blue Marble and I got a couple of international pen pals through them. Also had a few local pen pals. Those were the days. Writing back and forth, waiting for the mail to arrive. Fun! We kept in touch for several years. Wonder what happened to them all?

  Dun think today, with internet and all that, there will still be the good old tradition of pen pals. Nothing beats the sincerity of letter writing

  Yeah agreed!!! I still enjoy writing to some of my overseas friends once in while.

  I remember I had one korean pen-pal during my school days.
  
  It's quite interesting to know from your pen-pal about what a similar age youngster like yourself will be doing at the other part of the world.
  
  Sometimes wondering what has she become now, maybe a mum with few kids already...

  I just love writing and would wait anxiously for a reply to arrive. I used to collect writing paper like there was no tomorrow.

  Nope. I tried having some pen pals but it never worked out Either I don't reply or the other party doesn't

  I remember local pen pals used to have the .. snail mail version of A/s/l???
  always asking for pics and even had a few ask for vital stats!!!
  
  I had a pen pal from Korea too but eventually lost touch.
  
  My godma had a penpal from Japan.. that she kept for many many years... so that on her wedding, this pen pal actually sent her a kimono or something from Japan... and even now, they still keep in touch occasionally. My godma is a grandma now

  I never wrote to local pen pals coz I think SG is so darn small....what's the point

  but they ended up on my msn so they're not much of a pen pal anymore
