Have never had the opportunity. Tell us why? *curious*Originally posted by HENG@:i love flying emirates and air france
air france is quite nice, and they have sandwiches, cup noodles, kit kat bars, juice n coke at the galley of the plane for u to help yrself to. I don't like to "ding" the stewardress for every small thing. Its better when i can stand at the galley and just eat non stopOriginally posted by jetta:Have never had the opportunity. Sounds like my kind of airline. Pity I can't think of any justifiable reason to fly from here to Sg via Europe.Originally posted by HENG@:air france is quite nice, and they have sandwiches, cup noodles, kit kat bars, juice n coke at the galley of the plane for u to help yrself to. Visit Paris!Originally posted by jetta:Sounds like my kind of airline. Pity I can't think of any justifiable reason to fly from here to Sg via Europe.
OUI!!!!!!!!!!Originally posted by HENG@:Visit Paris!
You can get the same stuffs on SIA long haul flight on 747, and airbus NY-Sing route. If you are talking about economy class, I would prefer SIA to emirates anytime. In flight entertainment is better, SIA even got TOP Gear magazine in economy class, more leg room, better selection of beverages and cleaner toilets. If you take emirate to europe you will have to fly via dubai, and transit in dubai is a real hassle, especially going through the security, where you have to take off your shoe, belt etc..Originally posted by HENG@:air france is quite nice, and they have sandwiches, cup noodles, kit kat bars, juice n coke at the galley of the plane for u to help yrself to. emirates's planes are very new and nicely furbished. the mostly stop-over at dubai which is awesome for its duty free shopping. And Emirates became a McLaren team sponser shortly after i started flying with them
I personally think that those highlight as good seat are not that good in my opinion.Originally posted by jetta:aisle seat, bulkhead. BTW, for those who don't know, go to www.seatguru.com to find out where the best seats are.
You will only enjoy the emergency seats there if you need the extra leg room. Other than that I cant think of any other good reason to be seating there.Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:Hey jetta! Thx for the useful seatguru url! I personally prefer the emergency exit seats as they are more comfy (got longer leg room and no one in front who'll recline the seat down, nothing worse than having that esp. when having my meals ).
That is my number one pet peeve about flying. I've encountered some mother fuckers sitting right in front of me who just recline the fucking seat down and sleep or read newspaper during the whole journey, refusing to take meals. And refusing to budge even when the stewardess tries to explain to them its tough for those sitting behind them. And every single one of these motherfuckers I've encountered are mainland chinese.Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:no one in front who'll recline the seat down, nothing worse than having that esp. when having my meals ).
yeah...and they do it even when we are trying to EAT.Originally posted by av98m:That is my number one pet peeve about flying. Be careful what you wish for.....I'll be happy to never see the oxygen mask drop in front of me thank you.Originally posted by TehJarVu:sidetrack a bit...
has anyone ever used the oxygen mask before?
i so want to try it but never had the chance.... now travelling less oredi..... lagi no chance liaos.....
I almost did. On SIA flight. London to Singapore, during take off, one of the left engine of the 747 catch fire. pilot made an emergency brake from take off speed and plane has to stop in the middle of the runway. Fire engine surronded the plane for an hour before we were evacuated.Originally posted by TehJarVu:sidetrack a bit...

If I'm sitting next to a complete stranger, I'll ask, "Are we there yet???" every couple of minutes until he either strangles me or asks for a seat reassignment.
Seriously, I'll while away the time reading a good book or a few magazines, and perhaps watch an in-flight movie or two (assuming the A/V equipment aboard the aging and poorly-maintained NWA aircraft is even working).
Sleep, however, is not in the cards. In all my years of air travel, I've [b]never been able to get any shut-eye aboard an aircraft.
This is not intended as a thread hijack, but I am curious as to which seat you prefer on a long-haul flight. Do you prefer the window, middle or aisle seat?

Oh, and I prefer aisle seat-- I will ALWAYS ask for aisle, no exceptions.Originally posted by singaporesodapop:I listen to my MP3 player, play Uno if I'm traveling with another person.
Sleep, watch movies, read the newspaper or the Duty Free magazine.
Chew gum to prevent my ears from popping.
For shits and giggles, I usually will press the flight attendant button and ask for either bottled water or green tea.
Usually there aren't any hot MALE flight attendants, so no daydreaming there...
During my flight back from the military base in Italy, I polished my boots (spit and shine!).
at 33,000 ft, there is really nothing to see outside the window.Originally posted by singaporesodapop:Oh, and I prefer aisle seat-- I will ALWAYS ask for aisle, no exceptions.
How about some fried carrot cake with shrimps and sambal together with a glass of champagne.. one of my favourite food on SIA.Originally posted by SydneyLibrarian:I LOVE most flights I'm on! I especially look forward to flights onboard SIA I occupy myself by playing games, watching movies, reading, and asking for all kinds of drinks (tomato juice or milo --> good when I'm feeling cold!) Oh yea.. and I do look forward to some yummy Asian food when I'm travelling with SIA, too
SIA fly b4 long haul. don't like. more expensive also, with nothing much better.Originally posted by Gazelle:You can get the same stuffs on SIA long haul flight on 747, and airbus NY-Sing route. Their duty free is nothing compared to singapore. both left and right side are bascially selling the same stuff in the reverse order. and most things there are more expensive than what you will get in singapore airport. And there is also lack of space in the airport for you to rest and watch TV. The only plus thing is they always have some exotic cars on display. And they dont have free internet access terminal like in Singapore. I usually end up at the airline lounge reading papers and drinking beer.
Marseille in France is lovely tooOriginally posted by udontknowme:OUI!!!!!!!!!!
one of the best places.
together with switzerland and greece!!
hmm...i wanna fly emirates...but my mom usually takes cathay because of the two days stopover in hongkong...
That's a bit of an exaggeration.Originally posted by Gazelle:I almost did. On SIA flight. if the fire has broke out 30 sec later, our plane could have been airbound and we could have crash and burst into flame...
