Work Obsession

Hmm... do you all talk about your work after working hours. Not about .... WORK per se... by the people you met, interesting things that happen during the course of work... with ur family, friends, spouse?
-scratch head- Last night over a family dinner, my bro and father told me I am work obsessed. I didnt think of it that way, just that since I am the talkative one, I try to keep the conversation going during dinner by sharing what I thought was interesting during school day and all. I felt a little bewildered. They say no wonder I am stressed out - sure, I AM a little stressed out - but really my intention was really just to entertain and share more than 'purge'
And suddenly I feel a little dumbfounded. Since I work with children, I find them infinitely interesting. Their behaviour and how they think. Is it really very work obsessive of me to talk about them? It is bad etiquette?

ppl tend to talk about their normal life since it is what they are most comfortable with.
work take up to 1/3 of our normal life hence we tend to stray into topic regarding work during conversation unless there is something interesting going on around u, such as a wedding or a break-up -
not really bad.. but if you prattle on about uninteresting things like what tax forms you need to fill in and which type of heading you need to use, and are fascinated by it, then you are obsessed
(uhh.. talking bus.. you hear that?)
we sometimes talk about our work.. but if it's mostly human interest bits that we talk about rather than the actual work itself, should be fine isn't it?
besides, little children are always amazingly interesting

I think those who genuinely find their work interesting naturally talk about work more. By talk I mean sharing sessions, on top of the ubiquitous griping. My SO is one of them. Sadly I hardly talk about work LOL

Personally I hate talking about work, or asking other people about their work. Most of the time anyway. Which is why sometimes I make new friends not knowing what the hell is it that they do, even up to a year later
Like one fellow photography enthusiast, only recently I found out that he's the frikking CEO of a large company that my father sometimes works with! And that was how my father discovered how much my camera really cost.

Yeah been thinking over this... and realise that a lot of my friends DONT talk abt work too.. besides griping abt colleagues or etc.....
So I think to myself that I shall try to cut it down a bit... and not try to bore my friends with details of the kiddos in my life
Then I will end up talking abt my CAT... which isnt all tt good. Sigh I figure when I hv my own kid, I am going to be one of those irritating self absorbed mothers.

that day sitting in the MRT i was thinking abt work...
when I realised this girl standing outside at the platform gesturing at me quite frantically so I frowned at her.... then
err I realised there was NO ONE left in the train...and quickly ran out..
cos.. i think train diverted to terminal.. and asked all passengers to disembark but I totally didnt notice...... -
so.. who wants to go bowling?

close your left eye
overlap your hands so that you can make a little hole to look through about a square cm
extend your arms out and using focus at something far away...
once focussed, do not move your arms and open both eyes..
if you still see it, you're right-eyed...
