My trekking backpacks fetish .....

I went down to an outdoor outfitter in town today to get one of my trekking packs fixed (a northface no less ... one of the strap cinches cracked and broke ! ..
), and to pick up a new filter for my portable water filtration kit ....
discovered that one of the part-timers there was a classmate of mine from school .....
and he showed me a bunch of bags that were on discount ....
I simply couldn't resist ! ...
which ones look better ? ....

mommy will flip when I haul back yet another monster backpack ... .... but hell ... they are about 40% more expensive if you get them at the one and only ketok store in Singapore ....

i destroyed about 4 of these in my lifetime
if i remember correctly, they were this brand called Karrimore or something like that...
neglect and abuse does terrible things to rucksacks

I'm leaning towards this one too .... just cos it's a lot more expensive pack than the other one, and they're offering a deeper discount ... they're about over a thousand bucks at the ketok shop in Singapore .... but less than half than with the discount here right now ....
but the crescent looks good too .... it's not as waterproof ... but it has better suspension ... -
i was given those four by my aunt.. she knew someone who ran a shop and had a bunch of these things as samples...
so i used them as luggage instead...

but to be honest, I think northface have better clothes and jackets than backpacks .....
this northface that I'm using now, the strap tightening cinch cracked and broke off completely ....
but at least they have a lifetime warranty so it's not so bad ......

the suspension looks so space age ! ....
but my friend told me they've been getting chaps coming in with broken straps and suspension and stuff ... so I'm going to stay off northface for a while ... -

destroyed because of severe abuse.. i think also by the baggage handlers
the straps were okay... the fabric kinda fell apart...
come to think about it, never seen that brand around anymore -
I got a 38 litre Osprey, technical series, the orange one.
I think Arcteryx is much better.. and their price range maintain longer. Osprey recently big price cuts.
Also Osprey Harnesses... I find more suitable for ladies, or more narrow shoulders.
Sigh.. my 55 litre is a Tatonka... dont think I am going to upgrade to an Arcteryx or North Face anytime soon. Bo Lui Bo Lui Bo Lui ah!!!!! Just use my hubby's one can liao. HURHURHUR.
I like mountain hardware stuff.

Certain Arcteryxs and Ospreys are going on sale right now .....
there's this Osprey luna 70 (women's model) that's going for just C$297 !!! ....
it's would still be more than twice that even accounting for the exchange rate afterwards .....
The Arcteryxs are cheaper here cos it's made locally, so if you want, I can help you buy them and ship them over to you ... -

thing is, stuff in Singapore are sooooo blardy expensive ... the few shops in town are all out to ketok ... maybe you can go in for fitting and then order online or something ...
and of course, depends on your budget too ... I've always carried northface and mountainsmith stuff .... but Macpacs are fantastic value too ...... -
