WHERE THE HELL IS MY LOR BAK, FRIED DACE WITH BLACK BEANS AND OLIVE VEGETABLE?!! Disappointing really. I am sure Olive Vegetable isn't tt expensive.
Dishes and Review:
3 types of porridge:
- Peanut Porridge - I like this one. It is not too salty, creamy, and if you add in the century egg and fried cracker stuff... it's the best dish in the entire buffet. Which... speaks a lot about the buffet.
- Sweet potato Porridge - Sweet. The pieces of sweet potato cooked just right, nice sized cubes, good texture.
- Plain Porridge - Very nice texture. I like. Can consume gallons.
Dry Stuff:
Fried Fish - Only can see, didnt manage to get any. Uncle in front of me took the last fish then chef keep liao. It looked nice though.
Fried Egg - Mediocre. Mediocre. Mediocre.
Salted Egg - How bad can salted egg get? You can't boil it wrong i guess.
Century Egg - .... as above.
Soya Chicken - I liked it. I think it has a nice texture, and taste.
Lup Cheong - Not a good grade. Rubbery.
Lots of other stuff make up the '60 dishes' like.. ikan bilis and all. I didn't bother with them.
Gravy Stuff:
Broccoli - how do you spell this word. I like this veg so its nice.
Vege in Oyster Sauce - Fresh Veg, not too old. Nicely done.
Mapo Tofu - Too salty without the PUNCH. Do you know the origins of Mapo Tofu? If not, join the Asian Civilisations Museum tour and treasure hunt thing that I am organising!!!
Chicken Wing with Black Fungus - Best Dish. Yummy.
Braised Stuff:
Tau pok - Hmm Nice. I like... braised Tau Pok but NO GARLIC?!
Pork Skin - Hmm. nice too.
Trotters - Tough like you can kill someone with one of these
Hainanese Mutton Stew - I'm hainanese and i can't give me sign of approval to this stew I am sorry. The Mutton tastes like it lived to a VERY VERY VERY ripe old age.
Egg - WHY is the egg alone? Somehow braising all those things separately as DIFFERENT dishes is kind of cheating my feeling leh.
Chicken - nice.
Peanuts - Tough. Not melt in ur mouth.
Dessert:
- Pulot Hitam - Not bad. Ok lah.
- Green BEan - Have tasted better.
- Cheng Tng - didnt bother. hubby cooks great cheng tng leh and eating it feels like infidelity. But Auntie says its WAY too sweet.
