My sis had F9 for A Math at sec4 mid-year exams and A1 at the O levels. The trick? well ... the whole education system needs a revision methinks ..... science and math in particular, and English too ...
but for starters, they can weed out those jaded, cynical, ego-destroying teachers like what BBB encountered .... if you're not passionate about teaching, if it's just a job to you, get out, don't destroy the lives of more students, don't destroy your own too .... -

teaching is a calling.. but with idiots up top who are more administrators than teachers, they have no idea what that is..

I swear i could have scored 100/100 for both e.maths and a.maths at O levels. But the full results is not out so i only know i get both A1 for those two subjects. -
there's some topics in maths really is cannot means cannot. like probability, u can't get it means u can't get it.
other topics there's like diff solutions to a prob, but some topics there's only one way to it, and u can't get the way to do it means u're doomed.
also, some ppl just dun have the imagination.. -

most statistics are actually counter-intuitive...

maths even if now i still maintain my A1 i wasn't happy... coz theres some chpt. i just keep forgeting on how to solve the qns. Its actually very simple maths is, but ppl kept making it complicated... jus like me making sciences complicated...

Honestly I was way too lazy to read through all that.
Personal experience:
I've been getting F9 throughout Sec school for Math except for Algebra which I can get full marks for some reason Btw I got a B3 for my O's
Anyway, my Uncle tutored me for my O's and he told me he cannot understand why I can't solve a simple equation but I can solve a complicated problem and the only reason he can think off is that I have a lazy brain and that I'm careless too
He said he noticed I like to skip steps along the way and end up making a mistake somewhere
On hindsight I think what he said it is true coz that is what my teachers tell me as well. They will go.... why did you fail your math test when you are one of the 2 people who answered this question correctly

i scraped through to upper sec when i had a change of maths teacher (usually there'll be different grps of people teaching upper and lower sec) and after that i begun to get b3, a2, a1 in my maths.
for my year more than half failed their sec 2 maths very badly.. and our maths teacher said she'll go back to the basics with us.. gg thru the whys and hows.
