If the company requires a notice period of 10 days when you resign, does it include the weekends? Or do they only count the working days?
Eg. if the staff tender on 2 Oct, does it mean that her last day is on the 12 Oct? -

depends on how the company wants to do it lor...if the company wants to be an @sshole...then can say its 10 working days...but most companies will take as 10 days including weekends...because there isnt really any point in forcing an employee to work for U when the heart is no longer with U..but of course lar...the employee also must know how to reciprocrate...do everything nice nice before leaving...Originally posted by Honeybunz:Ask you all ah...

same point as ur example...tender on 2nd Oct....nice bosses will take it as 2nd Oct...last day on 12th...@sshole bosses will take as 3rd Oct...end on 13th...bosses from hell will take as 3rd Oct and go check on ur handover work on the 13th...anything boss not happy...cannot take pay...must do everything for boss before going off...no hard and fast rule there...unless specified in letter of employment.
best way is to clarify when U hand in the letter of resignation...with 10 working days excluding weekends.

I think depends on type of job ba.. whether it includes weekends or not.. -frown- I dont remember NOT including weekends though usually everything calculated in....

I think temp job's notice period also usually includes weekends...
anyway...for a 10-day notice period...most likely temp job... -
10 day notice usually means 2 calendar weeks...

why? 5 working days a week..
2 weeks isn't that long... as you have seen, so many have to give longer.. from 2 to 3 months

if U want to pursue ur grievances...can email MOM and see if they can help U...their email response quite fast. -

if they never state its 10 WORKING days.. then weekends should also be included...
