they seem to have a negative opinion about asians. Its the stereotypes that needs breaking though. in the media, we, as asians are portrayed as "we cant speak english". and we are also "little" in our height and weight compared to the cacausians.
Rhonda this doesnt help for you coming from melbourne where the premier is asian and he needs brushing up on his english it was so funny hearing him speak on television the other day.
one more thing. ASIAN IS SUCH A BROAD TERM. gosh. and they think we are all the same.
singaporeans can be identified by their thick singlish accent haha
RHONDA. sports is very integrated into the culture here! esp rugby league and australian rules football. therefore it is important to support a team. ive been living in perth for a few years now, and i support West Coast EAGLES! yeeeha.
... and singapore slingers. to a extent, so much FT in it. get some local players.

*high 5's you!Originally posted by matchless:Rhonda, next time an aussie asks you what Singapore is like, just answer "imagine Sydney. only better".
Yah what, it's the truth!
wah! your ingrish so gud huh?! i'm implessed lehs...Originally posted by Rhonda:Erm... I'm supporting a footie team because it's part of the culture here and you kinda MUST support a footie team one!
When people talk to you here, inevitably, they'll ask, "So, which footie team do you support?"
And if your answer is :
"Huh?"
"What's footy?"
"Wha?"
or worse,
"I don't watch footy!"
then, oh man, you're 'out' and so soooo not 'in'!
Part of the reason too why I had to adjust the way I speak - I'm slower, enunciate my words more, and sometimes add a drawl, because you need to communicate and be accepted as part of them, so they will feel more comfortable working with and interacting with you.
All in the name of assimilation!
Actually, I've met lots of very interesting people from all walks of life in my job and I must say that I love the poor and humble over the rich hoity-toity folks.Originally posted by matchless:Rhonda, next time an aussie asks you what Singapore is like, just answer "imagine Sydney. only better".
