I was able to distinguish a singaporean parent immediately by how they speak to their children at Disneyland, without any lah & meh.
Some singlish just help to soften the sentences when added at the end. Like the lah & meh & aiyoo. -

anyway, i find that a lot of people in singapore keep adding and leaving out letters in words..
lots of "t"s added and lots of "s"s left out -

Rite....I am going to sound like a 'sister gal' oppose to 'mummies gal'.
Sis just said: Her hubb was always sort of very thankful that he manages to find a young, pretty, smart, bi-lingual female to have his children. And he still thinks Singapore isnt real, and that my sister might just one day poof and disappear like a dream.
In other words. He cannot believe that Singaporean females are real. That there is indeed a Singapore, where the females arent just out to cheat the $$$ out of the male cos the females are very capable in their own right, yet has good strong asian family values. -

Errrmmm...was talking to my sis and that reminds me.
I was at Vegas having dinner when I see a punkish young lady. Those sort black spiked up hair, dark kohl eyes, dark lipstick and sleeveless tee kinda gal.
On her arm was tattooed big big these 2 chinese words. 'Nui Go' 'Female Dog'
Was discussing it with my sis and she explained, maybe that angmoh gal was trying to say that she is biaatch.
But somehow.....the angmohs didnt realise its actual translation just mean that. A Female Dog.
She could have saved the trouble and simply tatooed one word "Jian" which is chinese, could have meant 'Cheap' or 'Slutty' or 'biatchy'.
I was thinking she should have simply tattooed the word 'Er' which means nasty or fierce. -

Here's another story to add.
Earlier, brunch with sis and family at a Ruby Diners in this USA.
a couple of chinese looking folks sat down behind us.
the waitress went forward and welcome them in Japanese language. Mind you, the waitress is caucasian.
The couple, the lady, looked at the waitress in puzzlement and simple said: I like to have a coke please.
Anyway, after the waitress goes away, i sort of listened in and notice that the couple is actually Indonesian cos they were spoke in Bahasa Indonesia to each other. -

If I speak at the rate I used to in SG, I don't think the Aussies would comprehend me at all! They will 'liak bo kew'!
However, unconsciously, when I'm with colleagues who are Singaporeans or who have worked in SG hospitals before, the occasional 'alamak' / 'tidak apa' / other Malay terminologies creep into my conversation! One of my Filipino mates exclaimed, "Wah! So long haven't heard that word already!" when I first said "Alamak!" without realising it. Oddly though, I've only ever done that only when they are around. -

Yeah, I'm here for a bit. Work's over and I wandered over to the internet cafe. Had to put back my packet of special reduced price minced pork because I realised I was coming here and don't wanna have to rush home cause of the meat.
