They are like the ER and they generate the most revenue for the company and they are paid the least

we have something called secondary appointment and everytime management picks on the secondary appointment to determine if we're working.
no one looks at the primary job. -

reminds me of my sister's past company...
it was hilarious because i talked to the people in there.. her section was making the decisions which had to be made (must be my sister coz she's very fierce at work) and not interested in nonsense like office politics, political correctness and all that..
her staff went back when it is time to knock off, no OT (not like they will be paid anyway) but the job was done and done quickly...
her division boss must have felt threatened because the dude kept putting obstacles in that section's way... until the big boss from abroad was puzzled and came to singapore to have a looksee.. and the brown smelly stuff hit the fan
sadly, due to the politicking, the whole division was finally shut down!
the last person to go was my sister because the big boss didn't trust anyone to wind up the whole thing.. when i went to help my sister pack up her stuff, her whole division, only 2 people left! my sister and this tech dude who was going to seal up the loose ends...
when my sister left the place, you could see the relief in her face...
sadly, if you can do your job well, you become one of the indispensibles.. which means you can never ever be promoted.. the useless get promoted...

you are good at your core duties, no one cares.. they will pick on your nonsensical stuff like the number of WITs projects, the number of SSS or whatever...
and those who never do their job and others end up pulling their load, are usually the ones with lots of those useless WITs and SSS.. and those who went for plastic surgery to attach a sucker in the place of their mouths... they get praised and promoted!
i asked this before and probably i ended up being "condemned" (i am according to a lot of people) "what is the point of all these useless things? until we get our core duties done, these are all pointless"

My place is exactly like that. More attention is paid to the "value added" stuff than primary duties. People are recognised more for their commitee work, WITS, ESSS, and other extra duties. he told management "why keep telling us to do secondary appointment when we're free? we can't even settle the primary job!!"
another one said "i'm not paid to do secondary jobs, i'm paid to do primary"
its like they tell us we should use our free time for this and that, then at the end of the day u are spent from running around the whole day, u don't even THINK about the stupid secondary job.
easy for management to say this and that la... its always the case, they just SAY. if they want it done, they should go around and help the guys do it.
we do the primary job to keep u out of trouble, u help cover our secondary job. -
