when ever I pop my bread slices into the toaster, I'll go puttering around getting the milk and peanut butter ready, and every single time, the sudden noise of bread jumping out of the toaster would give me a mini fright every time .....
anyone else get this toaster fright too ? .....
It's a great wake-up shock though .... better than coffee ...

I get startled whenever there are loud sounds.

But you know, toasters are passe. I tossed mine out some 15 years back because it's not as versatile as a toaster oven.
