  I have a right group..unfortunately they're also busy and we meet up only 2 to 3 times a year. But yes, they will sit and eat for 3 hours.

  i eat a few plates of mains, then i head to desserts, then back to mains, then desserts.............

  Simple
  
  phase 1: scouting/probing
  
  Eat a little of everything to get a feel of the buffet, quickly assess everything and identify the main items that you want to concentrate on
  
  phase 2:
  
  whack the items identified
  
  phase 3:
  
  coffee and dessert.
  
  And there will be a lot of conversation in between. Half the time is spent talking, the other half eating. That's why I need the 3 hours

  small portions of many things
  big portions of my favourites
  hot tea in between
  leave room for desserts
  slooow & steady
  there is always room for one more
  good buffet kakis are enablers, not wet blankets nor time-watchers! *purses lips & wags finger*

  i've always thought av tactics to a buffet would be "hard and fast" for 3-4 hours
  
  half a lifetime ago, i could do that.. now i guess i'll be slow and stuttering for a couple of hours

  Pick teensy, weensy portions of selected main courses (or try other people's main course)
  Back to appetisers that I like
  Soup, perhaps
  More appetisers
  Pick on tiny pc of dessert & share it
  Appetisers (if still got room)

  i don't enjoy eating...i eat because it's necessary to live. i'm the last one at the table and the first finished....i eat fast but nobody says anything to me.

  hmm, i cant decide if i eat too fast or slow
  
  last time used to be damn fast, my mum have to yell at me because i swallow, not chew
  
  i swallow fishballs, not chew on them
  
  but nowadays, diet kinda change
  
  more rice, more veggy, more soup, less meat....eat a bit of everything than one big one
