Nothing wrong with not being ambitious. When I was interviewed for my current job, the GM asked me where do I want to be in the company in 5 years time.My reply was I do not know. I told him I am not ambitious corporately, I have my ambitions but just not in the corporate world. But I went on to say that it does not mean that having no ambitions about my work means I will be slacken. In fact, my own values will not allow me to slacken but instead excel in my job. I mean, I want to go to work, fulfill my responsibilties and do the best I can during my shift, then when I finish my day, I have other things to look forward to in my life. I do not want extra responsibilities, nor do I covet after any title nor status.
I'm happy like that but back in SG, it almost seems 'wrong' to not be ambitious. I'm glad that here, there's way more flexibility plus there are tons of people in my workplace who are opting for less than 5-day weeks to accommodate their various interests in life.
To me, there's more to life than work, work, work. If I have to work, work, work, then I also wanna play, play, play!
I think the problem with people nowadays is that when they say they are not ambitious, they totally slacken off, they bo chup, they give mediocre work. Being not ambitious does not mean you cannot excel in your work. To me, some people use lack of ambitions to be mediocre. -

There are a couple of ways to go about getting money without doing any work. I know for a certain that the gov (US, Oz) does give benefits to those who are without jobs. I'm not sure about the system in US, however in Australia, all you need to do is to show Centrelink that you are actively looking for a job. You will be given some money every month.
I believe no one is alone in the bills department....I've got a mortgage to pay. That's why I'm go to work everyday. -

I'm not being proud or boastful, just really really curious... if I should get hold of the new IELTS handbook just to see if my essay somehow erm... made it there, cause I remember desperately flipping through the handbook the day before and reading through the examples of essays and wondering what one has to do to get one's essay in there.

a higher calling if you may, something that'll make me feel I'm making a difference in the world, doing something greater than just earning a paycheck, as "sufficient" as mine now is (not that I'm ungrateful for that) ...
you know, when I was younger, I was obsessed with the idea of financial independence and raking in the big bucks, I even embarked on several hair-brained schemes which flopped and started a business in poly ... but now, chasing material things just seem ... hmmm ... meaningless ? ... -

but IELTS is a different course on its own...it is an entrance exam if you wan to attend universities overseas such as in UK, Aus, etc...some Singapore unis oso require dat if i m not mistaken, esp if the student is from msia.. -

I got nothing to go to work for.
I got no goal, no aim and no desire.
I felt unwanted, not needed and thus a surplus to the world, even if I do have the ability to work and has trainings for it.

To get moolah. period. If they had to pay you to do something, its work. If it doesn't suck, you would do it for free. You dont need to pay someone to enjoy his or her hobby -
