Nothing wrong with not being ambitious. When I was interviewed for my current job, the GM asked me where do I want to be in the company in 5 years time.My reply was I do not know. I told him I am not ambitious corporately, I have my ambitions but just not in the corporate world. But I went on to say that it does not mean that having no ambitions about my work means I will be slacken. In fact, my own values will not allow me to slacken but instead excel in my job. If I get a promotion or raise, I am happy. If not, I am happy with what I have anyway. I was hired.Originally posted by Rhonda:Something I picked up in some of the posts here... Ambition - Why is it wrong to lack ambition at work?
I mean, I want to go to work, fulfill my responsibilties and do the best I can during my shift, then when I finish my day, I have other things to look forward to in my life. I do not want extra responsibilities, nor do I covet after any title nor status.
I'm happy like that but back in SG, it almost seems 'wrong' to not be ambitious. I'm glad that here, there's way more flexibility plus there are tons of people in my workplace who are opting for less than 5-day weeks to accommodate their various interests in life.
To me, there's more to life than work, work, work. If I have to work, work, work, then I also wanna play, play, play!

I'm kinda curious and was wondering if ... I'm not being proud or boastful, just really really curious... if I should get hold of the new IELTS handbook just to see if my essay somehow erm... made it there, cause I remember desperately flipping through the handbook the day before and reading through the examples of essays and wondering what one has to do to get one's essay in there.
well, it's not that I'm looking for a way to get money and pay the bills without working, but I'm looking for something ..ermm ... meaningful perhps ...Originally posted by whitsundays:Hi Fatum
There are a couple of ways to go about getting money without doing any work. I know for a certain that the gov (US, Oz) does give benefits to those who are without jobs. I'm not sure about the system in US, however in Australia, all you need to do is to show Centrelink that you are actively looking for a job. You will be given some money every month.
I believe no one is alone in the bills department....I've got a mortgage to pay. That's why I'm go to work everyday.

Yeah but you don't need to pay them and they will still do it. Whereas you will need to pay me to do work, I won't do it automatically or for freeOriginally posted by Camellias4me:Some lucky 1s get paid to enjoy their hobby worr..
